Enter the Dog Poet - Oliver Anthony

Somewhere, deep in the woods of Virginia entered this past few days the dog poet singing from the hearts of many. Two weeks ago I had never heard of Oliver Anthony, and yet its as if he cn hear hearts. More impressively, he can write wonderful lyrics. Not simply a lyricist but rather a better description of Oliver Anthony is a "word smith".

The title of the song Rich Men North of Richmond, is pure poetry.

For the geographically challenged, 110 miles North of Richmond, Virginia lays Washington D.C.

In one song, the dog poet sings of the troubled hearts of many souls and this "new world". No one is safe from the cry of an old soul.

"I wish politicians would look out for miners
And not just minors on an island somewhere"

Yep. He went there and good for him. We all whisper these things and here comes old Oliver belting it out from deep within. Perhaps the guests on the island were some Rich Men North of Richmond.

Dang.

So if you think he is just a one hit wonder?

"Lord, they don't never sing songs about Virginia
But sweet Virginia's always a singing to me"

This one line makes me smile to no end, simply because guess what, the Dog Poet just wrote and sung a song about Virginia. :)

This last song is a little darker but truthfully after these past few years, I feel deeply in my own heart each and every word.

I have spent the past few years deep in prayer and half the time not thinking anyone is there and nobody cares, that I am all alone.

Oliver passed up a record deal worth $8 million dollars.

Do you know why?

I reckon its because you can't buy a poet and you can never buy the Dog Poet.

I begged and even pleaded with family and friends not to take that stupid shot. Many listened, but far to many did it anyway. I have lost family and friends, three of whom have died since, simply because they did what the TV told them to do. It breaks my heart.

Just remember, in an insane world, the sane man is called crazy.
