The New York Times (NYT) reported that many Boeing 737 Max pilots did not know enough about the characteristics of the plane and learned to use the new model from the iPad tablet.
Normally the pilots are practicing for hours and that this is done with the help of expensive simulators that imitate the flight and show the new features of the aircraft. The pilots of the Southwest Airlines and American Airlines have repeatedly requested to make the Max model's simulator from Boeing, but the company and the US Federal Aviation Board (FAA) have said that the pilots did not need additional training. The pilots were only informed about possible problems and how the new equipment would work.
A group of pilots who tested the Boeing 737 Max have prepared a 13-page guide on the different features of the aircraft, including changes in screens and engines, but not on the new hardware, which automatically brings down the nose of the aircraft.
Boeing's representatives promised to fix the pilgrimage within a few weeks without the need for additional training, immediately after the accident in Indonesia.
