Vacation at DUNI ROYAL RESORT -BULGARIA
Hello, Steem-ers!
I haven't posted in a log time, but since i've recharged my batteries, relaxing for the last week at the seaside, i've decided to write a post based on my vacation.
I love the seaside and the mountainside alike. This past week i've been in Bulgaria at the very beautiful resort called "Duni Royal Resort" situated along the Black Sea shores, near Sozopol.
We arrived at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, when lunch was still being served, after a six and a half hours drive from Bucharest. We were famished. When arriving at the gate we got our papers checked and we were happily sent to the parking lot. Two bellboys came to us immediately after parking and helped us with the luggage. You receive one key-card and one towel card for each person staying in the room. Yes, towel card. You pick up a towel in exchange for the towel card and when your done for the day you make the change back.
The reception hall was huge. I admit, i'm not much of a traveler so i was a little bit impressed of the immense building. You can see it in the photos below.
After we got everything in order the same bellboys drove us to our rooms. The first sensation is that you are in an Italian mountain village driving between houses on narrow paved streets. The smell of linden and spruce was so intense you felt relaxed already, just by walking by.
I can't say that i was impressed about the room. Two beds, TV, a small empty fridge, bathroom and a clothes closet. Didn't bother me at all.
Having everything brought to our rooms we now went to eat, as stated before, we were famished. There was a schedule for when you were supposed to eat. From 7:30 to 9:30 you could have breakfast or brunch, from 12:30 to 14:30 you could have lunch and from 18:30 till 21:30 you could have supper or dinner., or both :). So, we got to lunch at 14:20. All meals were Swedish buffet. We looked around and at the very last moment, before closing the doors, we managed to get some things on our plates except for one person. The doors closed at 14:30 and you couldn't get anything to eat anymore. We all shared what we managed to get and hurried to the beach. The sand was nice, not the best, but ok; the water was a blue greenish color, crystal clear.
The resort is full of restaurants, bars and swimming pools, all access included in the price. It even has a Mini Golf course, this one was with payment only.
One day, having stayed at the beach all day, I went to get something to eat at 1PM. Since there was a restaurant close to the beach I went straight there. I soon found myself kicked out of the restaurant for being dressed only in my swim suit. I didn't understand how you can have the restaurant built on the beech but expect people to walk 10 minutes to their room, change, come back and eat, go back and change and head back to the beach. But hey, no harm was done, I stayed on the terrace of the restaurant and ate in peace the stuff that I managed to get before getting kicked out.
The sun was unchallenged the whole week . Not a single cloud in sight. We went to the Aqua Park, pools, all the bars and even to the evening shows. Yes, evening shows, hosted by the resort from 9PM till 10pM in their own amphitheater where dancers made the evening even more beautiful.
What I liked most were the bar at Pelican Hotel and the water slides at the Aqua Park. This bar, unlike the rest of them, was build circular and covered with a glass dome, as for the other thing, who doesn't like water slides?!?!
For those of you that are interested in a full activity vacation you need to know that this resort offers also a tennis court, a gym, kangoo jump, capoeira, boat travelling, activities for kids, archery and who knows how many other things. But, always a but, no internet connection. You can buy internet but the connection is so bat that it is not worth a dime. The best way to get internet is to buy a Telenor prepaid sim card and get a full 4G connection, or by activating the roaming service before leaving your country.
All being said, it was a beautiful vacation where we got to eat and drink traditional Bulgarian cuisine, watch shows in the amphitheater, swim with baby jellyfish, tan allover, party and first of all RELAX.
Here are more photos of the place.
