Amazing Iceland! Photos of my travel in the land of Ice and Fire

in #travel4 years ago (edited)

In March 2018 I went to visit Iceland with a friend of mine. I was always fascinated by this incredible place where the extreme opposites meet in a conflictual weeding giving us spectacular shows. March is a magic month to visit this place as most of the snow, in the south, is melting but you can still see it on top of hills and in hidden corners. Glaciers are still safe enough to walk on and, at the same time, roads are accessible and waterfall rich in water.

Here my photos of that magic trip.

Amazing view of Gullfoss, one of the most famous waterfalls. Water and snow merge together while the sun creates a beautiful rainbow crossing the drops of water

The weather is so changeable and can easily give spectacular shows like this one

One of the hundreds of minor waterfalls nourished by the melting snow.

Ice caves inside glaciers are a common event: this is one of the few that you can visit inside. The colour of the ice changes according to its thickness and depth

Amazing landscape in which the two faults (the Euroasian one and the American one) are clearly visible (on the left).

Kerid crater lake: one of the most evocative places on the island.

One of the most suggestive natural phenomena: northern lights! Of course, the photo cannot catch the real beauty of this incredible phenomenon!

Another gorgeous landscape characterized by these peculiar colours.

Another minor waterfall with the magic of a little rainbow

I hope you enjoyed it! Soon other photos of different trips!

I think these photographs are yours. When there are rewards involved, people will check to see if what you are posting is really yours.

A 'Search Google for Image' check shows some of these are similar to existing shots, but as you were a likely tourist standing in the same spots I can understand this.

Don't take it personally, the reward pool is valuable and we all scrutinize anything that may not be genuine.

Welcome to HIVE, I hope you like it here.
