Renting Bikes In Sapporo, Japan

in #travel7 years ago

Hey Steemers,

Rather than take a bus or taxi to visit Moerenuma Park in Sapporo, my friends and I decided to rent bikes and trek for an hour and change to get there. The novelty of riding bikes in Japan was enough to get me all giddy with excitement. It gave us an opportunity to see much more of Sapporo with the free will to stop and detour where we wanted.

I decided to use this freedom to take pictures of cars! I am a slight petrol head, especially when it comes to Japanese cars. Here are a few (and the first) I have seen in Japan this far!

So just over an hour of biking later and we made it to Moerenuma Park. The park had it's grand opening in 2005 after starting construction in 1982,and was converted from a waste treatment plant. The park is meant to be one giant sculpture, as designed by Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese sculptor.

Here are the few pics I took with my phone. I mostly used my DSLR here and forgot about my phone :S

Heading back into town.. tired and hungry

Next stop... FOOD! Ramen to be precise. The place we went to is close to our room but is actually a very popular and well reviewed establishment. I had there signature ramen with some sliced pork, seen below.

It's a small place but very busy.. with a line going out the door and around the corner

To top off the night we planned to walk around the busy downtown area however were side tracked by an arcade haha ended up staying until they kicked us out. Did some racing, some drumming, shooting and of course some fighting.

Pokken Tournament arcade styles. My buddy on the right is undefeated. Only picks OP Pokemon. Possibly a cheater.

And that's that. A looooong satisfying day filled with bike riding, site seeing, city exploration, great food and some good old arcade fun.

Here's hoping tomorrow is even better!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Cheers,
