in #travel6 years ago

Hello Steemians.

Today I want to share with you 10 things that you surely did not know about my native country: Venezuela.

Although today we are news because of the large number of problems and the serious crisis we face, there are several wonderful qualities about my country, let's see them:

  1. Venezuela means Little Venice. Since when the colonists arrived at the lake of Maracaibo they observed that the aborigines lived in palafitos that are house on the water, making reference to the houses on the water for which Venice is famous

  2. It has the highest waterfall in the world. It is called Angel Falls or Kerepakupai Vená (Meaning: jump from the deepest place in the Pemón language). It is located on an arm of the Carrao River, a tributary of the Caroni, has a total fall of 979 meters and its largest uninterrupted fall is 807 meters. Because of its imposing height, it is part of the Guinness Record.

  3. In Venezuela 1 liter of gasoline costs $ 0.04 being the lowest price in the world. This is because, in addition, Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, with more than 513 billion barrels of oil (Year 2013).

  4. It has the longest cable car in the world, located in the State of Mérida. This already has two Guinness records for having an area of 12.5 km, and a height of 4,765 m.s., reaching the peak of the Espejo peak.

  5. Venezuela is considered a mega diverse country because of its high biodiversity. In addition, it has all the climates of the world in its small geography: Humid Forest, Arid, Semi-arid, Temperate, Paramo, Plains, Perpetual Snow, Tropical Desert, Jungle and Savannah.

  6. The General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge, or locally known as the bridge over Lake Maracaibo, is the largest concrete and reinforced concrete bridge in the world of its kind, and number 52 in the world. The bridge was built between 1957 and 1962 with 135 sections, 20,000 tons of rods and is 45 meters high.

  7. The largest and heaviest snake in the world, originally from Venezuela and living in the basins of the rivers of the Orinoco and other South American countries, is the Anaconda del Orinoco.

  8. The best cacao in the world (Theobroma Cacao) is the Venezuelan. Its reputation goes back 500 years since the Spanish conquest as the climatic and geographical conditions of the country make it an ideal home for the production of this item.

  9. The Coromoto Ice Cream Shop located in the city of Mérida, founded in 1981, is the most flavored ice cream parlor in the world (860), which is why it has been awarded the Guinness Record twice in a row.

  10. The largest lake in South America is that of Maracaibo. This large lake is located in western Venezuela, in the state of Zulia. It has about 13,820 km²
