Weekend hiking trip New Zealand

in #travel7 years ago

My next amazing trip in NZ.
Last weekend it was time for one of the greatest hiking adventures of New Zealand, the 60km long Kepler Track. So I got up at 5am on Friday morning and left Dunedin together with my good mates Guido and Sofia. After about three-and-a-half hours of driving we arrived at the DOC visitor center in Te Anau and booked our tickets for the two huts along the track. Additionally we also rented a GPS tracker, or beacon as they call it here, for the unlikely event of an emergency. Now we were ready for a three day long adventure that none of us would forget any time soon! So here are some impressions from one of my most exciting and most stunning adventures so far.

60 km later we reached the car-park and completed one of our most exciting adventures here in New Zealand so far. All in all I can say the Kepler Track is well worth a visit! To end this post I´ll give you another picture from the beautiful sunrise at Luxmore Hut and a video of our hike:

so stay tuned for my next adventures!

Hey fredpeissert, NZ is one of my biggest dream, my friend lived there , and he is just amazed by the country and its people :) I have a plan I want to focus especially on newcomers but also on people that are very active on steemit. My plan is to build up a community with active users to support each other and creating a curation trail. Looking forward to curating more effectively, upvoted and following, greetings Lena!

Very nice ;-)

I'm glad the weather was good for you. it can be pretty rough on the tops in bad weather.

Just remember that in NZ especially during the winter months, the weather can get really bad really fast.

Plan and prepare well, and then get out there and enjoy Godzone!
Keep safe, and keep posting awesome pics ;-)

Nice pics and welcome to Steemit Fred!

Welcome Fred! I am looking forward to your posts! My nephe lived in NZ for a couple of years, all of his photos are just as beautiful. Seems like a magical place!

o man, intensely jealous right now. also, awesome photos :)

Gorgeous! Followed you :)

I like it, beautiful pictures! Welcome to Steemit, I am new but want to thank you for joining and sharing your wonderful post.

Welcome to steemit, Fred. Fantastic pictures, especially love the last one. Following and looking forward to your new content.

Btw, i think you copied the content off your blogspot site? Just a tip to add a source or reference so you don't get auto-downvoted for plagiarizing.

You were lucky with the weather, it can go from nice to deadly very quickly, plan for it, go prepared, the beacon is an excellent idea, and enjoy. DOC has lots of hikes/huts they look after.
Glad you enjoyed NZ, come back and see more.
