Travel teaches us all an endless amount of lessons, but there is one that has particularly stood out to me during my initial 40-ish days of traveling: our reality at home doesn't matter.
In the past month and a half, I've been to Hawaii, Japan, South Korea, and China. Within each place, I have at a minimum visited / stayed in 2 cities. Each city, even within the same country, has had its own unique vibe and way of life.
Some cities were easy to walk, others not so much, some were filled with friendly locals, others were hostile, some run on a cash based economy, others were electronic, and the list goes on and on....
For the vast majority of our respective existences, we live within our boundaries, comfort zones, and bubbles that cushion reality from slowing us down and the days for that reason slip by without our notice.
Traveling, and forcing myself to adjust to another rule book has slowed down the days and likewise shown that what I think does not truly matter. Every culture, community, and person has their own philosophy for how time should be spent on this Earth, and the only ideas that truly tend to really matter are the ones that scale and offer an alternative, unique, and perspective changing take on the human experience.
If this post made zero sense - I apologize, been a longggg day from visiting the Great Wall of China and the Beijing Olympic Park.
