Two months ago, my husband gave me these photos he has gathered when he was assigned in East Timor for about six months. I asked him to take a lot of photos that I can use for my blogs in steemit. He shared to me some interesting facts he discovered in East Timor, so I would like to share it with you.
East Timor or Timor-Leste is Located Northwest of Australia and it is in the Southeast Asia. It has beautiful countrysides, nice beaches and huge coral reefs. The breathtaking views of the natural environment is cool and relaxing. Some divers and snorkelers from other countries visit the Coral Triangle because it has one of the most diverse coral and reef fish in the world.
East Timor is not too far from Australia, but it is totally different. Its capital is Dili, and its tourism industry is still in its infancy, so it is lack of basic infrastructures. Transportation and internet connection are also hard so it is inconvenient to communicate outside the country, and it's not good to travel around without your own car. However, it is still exciting and fun to travel there because a lot of people are joyful and welcoming!
Food in East Timor is mostly influenced by Southeast Asian and Portuguese typical dishes as it is too close to Indonesia and it was under Portuguese Colony a long time ago. Caldeirada (stew made of mutton or beef seasoned with tomatoes, large red peppers, salt, pepper, vinegar and beer, usually combined with potatoes and carrots) and Carne assada (roasted buffalo meat served with thick sauce and pepper) are the famous food served in many restaurants.
One of the best souvenirs I got from my husband was the organic coffee. East Timor coffee is grown organically, so It has a distinct flavor. You will surely love its divine aroma. I like it very much because it has lower acidity compared to other coffee.
Many might consider East Timor as unknown , but I'm sure it will be discovered soon by a lot of tourists from all over the world because of its own uniqueness.
Below are the random shots taken by my husband when he was in East Timor. These wonderful pictures are the proof that East Timor is absolutely beautiful.
