Very pleasant place in Prague. Several terraces and entertainment on the square. Café NG Kinsky is a must, excellent sandwiches, tasty goulash and delicious beers. The buildings all give a relatively freshly restored impression from a distance, but from close range you can see the plaster crumble. We have visited Prague twice, and stayed at a hotel very near old town square. The history on that place is amazing, and so well preserved. so much to experience in that part of town. Yes, there are times of year when the tourist crowds can be overwhelming, but we have learned to roll with it and enjoy the entire chaos of the experience. There are street performers, food vendors, and the locals (in our experience) are friendly and welcoming.
