BEING WORRIED AND OPTIMISTIC at the same time - my personal view on TRON and STEEM situation

in #tron4 years ago (edited)
Within the next several days, I will celebrate my 2nd anniversary since I joined Steem/Steemit.

So far it has been an amazing journey, along with some major hopes and disappointments.

INTRODUCTION

line2 - Kopia.png

One thing I'm pretty sure is, the fact, that nothing ever brought as many emotions, anger and fear as recent Justin's and Ned's announcement. We've all learned that Justin Sun (representing TRON) bought STINC and this day will be surely remembered by many.

Since several users asked me recently about my own approach (curious how can entire situation impact @project.hope managed by me) - I decided to add my own 2 cents to this topic and share my own view - so those who collaborate with me would know what's my take on that issue.

So if you care about my opinion, then please continue reading. Otherwise close this post and do not bother.

ARE WE AN ASSET OR LIABILITY?

line2 - Kopia.png

I've read a large number of posts and comments related to this discussion and generally speaking, it seems that the initial fear settled down a bit after AMA (Ask-Me-anything) with @Ned and @justinsunsteemit.

It seems too obvious to me, that Justin and his TEAM do not know YET what to do with the purchased product and it's community. And as much as we're wondering what to do next, they are probably wondering the same. We're making our own conclusions - and so are those people too.

It's important to acknowledge that during such a "fusion", things always change. And our community is being studied and judged as well. Justin and his team need to decide what will be their approach to our community. We may end up being viewed as valuable assets. Or as an unwanted liability.

And it does matter.

UNWANTED BEHAVIOURS

line2 - Kopia.png

Our response will partly determine our own future. And comments like "You fool [Justin]. I don't need your fucking money." or "WE ARE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE, JUSTIN!" are not the way to go. Weather we like it or not - such remarks are not going to help our community to survive or progress.

So to wrap it up: we may be valuable assets or nothing but a liability / unwanted problem that came as a part of the package. It's simple as that. Which one do we want to be?

SOME VOICES OF REASON

line2 - Kopia.png

There are naturally people out there, who seem to share the similar business approach to this topic and @rentmoney in his recent publication pointed out a few things, out of which I would like to highlight one part:

And I fully support his words, hoping that more people will share this mature approach.

So let's stay focus and let's be prepared for the unclear future to reveal itself. However, at the same time let's try to be more open-minded and not so openly hostile. That's my personal intake.

TO SUMMARIZE

line2 - Kopia.png

I will summarize it all in one sentence:

After watching interview with @exyle and @andrachy ( link to the video on 3speak here ) I DECIDED TO BE OPTIMISTIC.

Yours, Piotr

Sort:

In case they wanted to make a hostile takeover, which is quite possible given the fact of how many steem one entity holds, it's worth knowing that witnesses and community is willing to make steps necesarry to mitigate and prevent such actions. The stake of majority needs to be prioritized, thus ensured by the blockchain.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of such moves, however people need to know that they can't simply take over something that holds the fundamental idea of decentralization. Of course, we can discuss the idea of decentralization(which we already have, multiple times), as opposed to centralization and one point of failure, but it's not highlight of the comment.

We have invested by far to much energy, time and money to be overtaken buy someone who claimes to have 20 mil users. Like, no you don't.xD
But some steps are obviously needed to gain the exposure, even with manipulative and false news.

Going further, it just might be the biggest win in crypto space so far. He has everything we lack, that is : money, exposure, obviously strong marketing team and strong connections.
The time will tell.

ARE WE AN ASSET OR LIABILITY?

Neither, we are the skeleton, the heart, the blood! Without us (community), STEEM could never exist. In some sense we are both, the balance and the ability do disagree and find solutions is what makes the balance right. Without it, STEEM is not STEEM.

UNWANTED BEHAVIOURS

This was in fact surprising to me. I was thinking it would be a LOT worse that it was to be honest. Nevertheless, we should all try to help. Be positive, bring the right attitude to the game, even if all you want is to "F... everyone, in defense of ...". Right things and symbiosis, will prevail.

After watching interview with @exyle and @andrachy ( link to the video on 3speak here ) I DECIDED TO BE OPTIMISTIC.

This is real proof of the influence and role we all have on STEEM and how much each of us decisions can shape the future of blockchain technology. It might be super undervalued as many forecast, but it still has (in my view) a tremendous historical value of people wisdom's, skills and public recorded experiences.

Later in history these recorded proofs will have an huge impact on how the blockchain will evolve.

I've seen in the incognito mode your communication with the muted guy by @dcooperation . As an admin of the community, I think I have to right to mute anyone I want. I want to let you know @crypto.piotr since you tagged me and @juanmolina who replied to xplosive that the guy is spreading negativity in our community and under my posts and sometimes even the comments of my posts. I'm positive about steem and I don't need to see someone spreading negativity. I just don't have time for that. Especially when someone keep repeating the same again and again under each post. Take a look at his comments and you will see how he's spaming the same idea everywhere. Thanks for you attention.

Dear @clixmoney

As an admin of the community, I think I have to right to mute anyone I want.

Absolutely agree with you.Thank you for taking the time to share your reasons behind your action. I'm fully aware that you dislike me (we had some conflict in the past) - howeverI trully I appreciate your mature response.

Yours, Piotr

I don't dislike you, you are a great steemian and you are building a cool project in steem and you're very valuable to our steem community. I just don't like to to talk through the wallet. I think it's better to use comments for that.

If we don't like something from someone, it doesn't mean that we don't like the person. The same about xplosive, I don't know him in real life to like or dislike him. I'm just tired to see negative comments from him about steem. We are all having hard time in steem now and I prefer to put my energy in building instead of wasting it in such things.

I'm doing my best to build the community and to upvote dedicated steemians and to build the community and to motivate steemians and to promote steem in all other social media. I don't like to see complains that are repeated like a song. It disturbs.

I like to see people like you always building and working as a professional leader who leads the community to better future.

I think I even respect you just like so many steemians do.

I love your way of thinking.

Hi again @clixmoney

I don't dislike you, you are a great steemian and you are building a cool project in steem and you're very valuable to our steem community. I just don't like to to talk through the wallet. I think it's better to use comments for that.

Thank you for your reply and for clearing the air. I fully understand that some people do not like to receive notifications via memo. However even now (with hives) it's the most efficient way of brining traffic to your publications.

I'm doing my best to build the community and to upvote dedicated steemians and to build the community and to motivate steemians and to promote steem in all other social media

I've noticed. And you're surely doing a great job.

Thanks for the clarification appreciated @clixmoney.

I'm positive about steem and I don't need to see someone spreading negativity.

We share the same feeling towards our beloved platform.

I always stayed neutral in this little event with @xplosive.
Hives administrators have a great responsibility to maintain a healthy and toxic-free environment. I am sure you had reasons to justify this action.

This would be the explanation I was requesting @xplosive.
For my part: This chapter was closed.

Thank you for your very polite response, appreciated @clixmoney.

Dearest friend Piotr:

I loved this different approach that you have given to the situation.

So far we have only seen apocalyptic publications about the purchase / sale of Steemit. Then this vision that you have given him serves as a respite within so much tribulation.

I think that in addition to having acquired a valuable company, Sun also acquired a commitment to an invaluable human asset. The creative potential, together with the transnational human relationships that have developed during these years of history, are the driving force behind Steemit.

The nature of the human being is destructive, of hatred and resentment. Revanchist
Then within all this mass of people we will always find shit like this:

Source

Such people are the ones that discredit our beloved platform.
And like him there are many here.

That challenging attitude towards Sun that you have described is, to say the least, childish.

I have managed to clear my mind and turn away those dark visions about the future of steemit. Currently there is a lot of light in my eyes and especially, a lot "Hope."

Your friend, Juan

I'm with you on this post. His stake is his stake. We don't know enough yet to even make a rational decision and I don't think Justin does either. We need to see how this plays out and be ready to make changes as it does.

I'm glad to know that we're on the same page @niallon11

All I know is that if our community would become hostile towards largest stakeholder - then we may have a problem. Not to mention that noone ever would consider purchasing steemit if Justin will burn himself. So there is just no other way - just one road into unknown :)

ps. Would you mind sharing with me what's approach to corona virus in Ireland? Are people worried or not so much? back here (Poland) hardly anyone seem to care :/

Cheers

Hello friend @crypto.piotr.

After watching interview with @exyle and @andrachy (link to the video on 3speak here) I DECIDED TO BE OPTIMISTIC.

I think it's the best we can do, whatever decision Justin and his team make, logically it will affect the ecosystem in a positive or negative way, worrying excessively or making hasty decisions doesn't help us at all.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for dropping by @fucho80 and for always being so supportive and responsive with your comments :)

Great thoughts you shared here piotr. Like I've always said, this collaboration comes with a two-edged sword - the good and the bad. We have to be cautious especially with words. Nobody wants to lose an investment, whether Sun or steemians. We all have to look for a point of intersection of our interest where both parties will win. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for dropping by @uyobong. Indeed - it's a two-edged sword. Let's hope it will not cut our heads off :P

Things will turn out fine, we just have to let the dust settle a bit! Justin Sun is smarter than Ned, I knew that after 2 muinutes of listening to the AMA. He will make Steem thrive! !trdo

It is good to be optimistic, and most likely to cautious at the same time.

It's like your daughter brought her boyfriend/ fiancé home; looks cheerful and promising, but as parents they will be cautiously optimistic.

The steem blockchain to the community is their life and their (project) child of labour, and Justin is the fiancé that gives a lot of positive promises, but only time will tell.

Did you manage to hear the map waves witness discussion right after AMA?

If so, you will see the optimistic parent and the minority percentage the very worried parent / a little panicky parent's reaction there.

That's how beautiful the community of STEEM is, and I hope Justin and many more who are new to this blockchain will learn to appreciate its presence.

Yup, I agree. As much as I'm not too comfortable in this position we're put in, cutting off whale money(that we all used to dream enter into steem) would only prove steem to be the piraya the outside world thinks it is.

Plus I'm sure if smts or se tokens ever take off then some more wealthy whales might decide to outdo Justin. What then?

I'm still super weary tho, and do feel the need for a contingency plan.

We gotta trade carefully, so much so that this whole debacle is sure to make some heads explode in the next few weeks.

What I believe is that the steemcommunity reacted to the news quite strongly. They saw this whole thing centered from a steem point of view. It's important to look at the big picture which is a battle for predominance in the crypto world between Etherium, EOS and Tron for who will have the best networks for Dapps.

The merger makes a lot of sense in terms of business. EOS will have Voice, Tron needs a social media as well. What's the biggest one out there and cheap to buy? Steemit.

Social media needs users that post stuff. Without users, social media is worth nothing at all. I'm quite confident that like dlive, poloniex and bittorent the core of steemit will not be altered. Over all I'm quite confident that the purchase of Steemit by Tron was very positive for the development of the platform and also for the value of Steem.

Hello Piotr,

I have been reading enough and more on Steem- Tron for the past couple of days that I intend to let go of the topic for the time being. Whatever happens, I presume, Justin will have his interest in mind and to lose Steem would be the last intent.

Eventually, Steem will remain Steem or it will become TRON, but the legacy will continue. Meaning, we will be there.

I wonder what do you think about current situation with TRON and witnesses @oivas?

Human beings tend to resist change by nature. I think that's what occurred in the first place.

Then, all the people with the development of the information and some interviews made a more conscious reasoning of the situation.

Everyone's personality plays an important role. That's why I identify with the optimism you have, my friend @crypto.Piotr

Justin and his TEAM do not know YET what to do with the purchased product and it's community

I assume they have an idea but it is Business Secret. I'm sure it is not a coincidence that they announced that on the day Voice.com started. I hope they are planning something great, a big social media platform or so.

Steem has many errors and after Hard Fork in August all got worst. Without real plans to change things. A greater change can be good news. I don't think the buyer wants to destroy what he bought.

I have the belief that an entrepreneur is not a person who invests millions with the idea of losing money or destroying the company in which he invested, so I start from the idea that you can be optimistic that Sun wants Steemit to work well and that can benefit the Steem blockchain.

Now that I read the comments of other colleagues, I think he is right that this may be a movement to deal with the start of Voice.coim working at EOS, if so, I have to admit that I think it was a good idea.

Thanks @crypto.piotr That's what I decided a very long time ago even before this takeover happened, to be optimistic. I always hoped that things would get better and bigger. There is no need to cry over spilt milk or to worry how to cross a bridge far away from me. So we keep our fingers crossed and allow the new owners to let us know what direction they want this platform to go.

Thanks, Charles

Hello Friend @crypto.piotr

I share your opinion and also share your optimism.
Anyway the cards are already on the table and although we do not like it we must wait for the following movements to know which other card the witnesses will play.
We must continue waiting for more news or more information about it.

Someone told me in a post that nobody invests to lose. true?

If scenario 2 of my recent post plays out I will remain optimistic. However, people hate uncertainty and as long as there are no clear plans announced, it is normal that there will be a lot of FUD. Looking forward to future announcements, right now I am cautiously optimistic.

Time will tell what will happen.

Steemit Inc is basically just 20% of STEEM supply + a group of excellent developers who are extremely familiar with the code and technologies that power STEEM. You are right to be optimistic. This community has seen massive drama and problems and it has prevailed so far. I honestly can;'t think of a single blockchain project that has been more resilient.

Who knows if this might lead to interoperability with tron. That can be massively powerful.

What? Me worried.?!?
Seriously though, anytime a massive amount of content is purchased it's a very good thing. That goes double for things that are bought online. There's just so much content out there that so easily accessible online so that should be chosen amongst them all is a big deal. if you have a hard time grasping this concept, just think about the wars when the libraries were rated throughout history and how much that meant to civilizations. Yes I am putting this deal on that magnitude!
Of course, how conquerors treat their scribes is probably another story. But I got to think that there's at least a token, pun intended, raise?

I just realized that I never actually thanked you for your comment. Big thx.
Cheers, Piotr

No thanks required. We are heading the same way- toward a tokenized future where we own our cryptocurrencies and gain digital influence to make change in the physical world.

I think people have a right to be upset. Ned hits the road and does not care how or what will happen, if people lose all that they have invested (I bought Steem).

AMA did not take the fear away. I think you read other posts as I did. It only made people more confused, unsure and being threatened by Tron "swap now or you lose everything" is not the way how you treat those who build this platform, invested in it too.

If it comes to Justin Sun he has bought Steemit but not the tribes, sitemaps, etc. He does not own Steem.

Steemit might not be perfect but if more people leave it will be very hard to make something good out of this platform. Since HF20 more and more users left.
Ned made many false promises (join to earn is still the way Steem is promoted), the whole New Steem was a setup, so were those newsletters I only received once and the fact you can not take your money and run if this turns out to be the end (powerful 13 weeks).

From and Steem are soon worth 👎. From even less as Steem.

Rude people you find everywhere not only on Steem on Tron and each platform. You can feed it by giving it attention or ignore it. You cannot choose your customers but if it comes to this platform each of the active members is promoting it.

I assume that - like I said before - Justin Sun does not know what he bought and this is the reason he said so many things that are not true.

Might be we are all unplugged tomorrow and it's the end of Steemit and our content is lost.

The only thing I know is that there are other platforms where you can blog and invest.

I will no longer buy Steem and use it here or power up with it. I invested enough and invested a little bit in Tron too (in my Bitvavo wallet).

I hope you have a plan for project.hope. You could cross post on Weku or use Publish0x to start with. A copy paste only takes a few minutes.

Good luck 💕

I agree that being civil is important and could have legit implications.

And I fully support his words, hoping that more people will share this mature approach.

I think this depends on what happens , if someone or a group try to "take over" the community should be able to go do their own thing. However, that doesn't justify bad behavior or people being insulting or mean, it just means we have the right to do our own thing if we don't like how those who are in control are doing things.

Will check out the video you included when I get a chance. Thanks!

Dear @crypto.piotr and the community. I broadly agree with the arguments presented in this post.
I feel the journey in the crypto world is full of ups and downs and steemit is no exception.
When we got on to steemit we came with our own set of expectations.
Some of these were met and some were not. So has been the journey on steemit.

The takeaways have been meeting and connecting with some wonderful people.
So beyond the tech that is the underlying steem blockchain the real strength is the people who make the community and create the content.

Since we have survived so far hopefully we would do so in the future as well.

We should not fear for as long as we can bond together we can generate the strength to tide over the biggest of challenges.

Another question that comes to mind is why do we fear and what?
Is it the fear of our freedom being compromised , lack of earning opportunities or something else.
Being long enough in this space I have realized that there are plenty of opportunities all around it is only a matter of looking in the right places and connecting with people who appreciate the value you put on the table.

I just realized that I never actually thanked you for your comment. Big thx.
Cheers, Piotr

Hello my friend @crypto.piotr thank you so much for sharing with me your publication..!!

About this new era @justinsunsteemit is not an enemy for all of us, he has one vision about Steemit and steem.

He is a great investor and I’m sure he won’t destroy his business and throw away his own money.

I can see a powerful future for all of us.

On another hand, those rude people who speak bad things about Justin, don’t have any idea why they are on the platform.

Talking bad thing and speaking about others don’t expect good things, but for sure get a lot of enemies.

Just we can think about why Justin is Young Millionaire. Because is smart about this technology and can see the future about something..!!

The only thing I can say is: Future is changing And is called Steemit and TRON.

We can take both with open and positive minded ..!!

Thank you @crypto.piotr

Will try my best brother currently working as usual hehe

(We've all learned that Justin Sun (representing TRON) bought STINC and this day will be surely remembered by many.)

I just joined steemit and i guess this news about the new buy is trending so well. I hope for the best here.

If you do not mind, i was checking through communities as i joined and i realized a lot of communities but i decided to join the ones that hold the same value for what i value which is science and tech. What caught my attention the most is the level at which members of the community interact with themselves via comments, i must say i love this and will like to be a part of the community.

I read through the community blog and i must say that i am impressed. I hope i can write in this community since i love science and tech. I will appreciate if i get such interaction as well.

Thanks.

Dear Piotr:

I understand that the sale / acquisition of Steemit Inc. by Justin, arouses much uncertainty among those who make life in this ecosystem and proof of this are the apocalyptic publications that have become common in recent days, however, I agree with you in your optimism, nobody spends a lot of money to acquire an asset like this and then throw it away.

I would need to ask you for little favour. Recently I've decided to join small contest called "Community of the week" and I desribed our project.hope hive/community. Would you mind helping me out and RESTEEM this post - just to get some extra exposure? Your valuable comment would be also appreciated.
