What platform is most active? Steem or Hive?

Testing the waters to see which is more active Steem or Hive? I'd like to think the OG is more active but I can't tell if more have just moved to using different platforms so users are more spread out or what? Is there an easy way to see stats for what sites are getting the most daily users? Is ecency the best for Hive or do people prefer Peakd or is there something else new and better that I'm unaware of?

Any feedback is welcome :)

Also, is anyone using anything to access either platform on their phones these days? I feel like the Ecency app used to be good but isn't it down now?

I use @peakd on mobile most of the time. A lot of folks like the Dapplr app, and I have that too, but I still prefer peakd and @dbuzz. Dbuzz has a browser based app. Either way, there's so much more to choose from here. On Steem, you're relegated to only Steemit and they censor people for just disagreeing with the status quo. That recently happened to @inertia. Sorry I didn't catch this in time to upvote.

No problem and thanks for the late response. I appreciate it.

Thanks much for this @stayoutoftherz that definitely breaks down exactly what I wanted to see.

Separate thought/question @stayoutoftherz but do you know if there's a way to see what specific groups/tags are most active?

Here @arcange is doing also a breakdown of most active groups/tags

Hey there.

For Hive, I found a really slick mobile dApp called dapplr. I no longer actively use the dapp since my content is usually for specific frontends.

I have learned that each and every tool option has something that the other does not, so I jump around.

Peakd is my go to when not on a frontend.

As of late, I have been hanging around Steem while waiting for my powerdown to power...down. I decided to leave the comfort of my wallet and see what was happening.

Korean, Japanese, and many other symbol based languages staggeringly dominate Steem. There’s a couple communities where English and Spanish persons have huddled together in.

I guess the circumstance for me on Steem isn’t dissimilar to what others may feel if the tables are turned. That said, something feels different with being lost in a sea of symbols that I don’t recognize. If it were non-English languages that used characters similar to what I know (ie: Spanish, German, French) I would feel fine.

What I’m trying to say is, I didn’t feel like I belonged on Steem.

Thanks for your detailed response @anaclark I just downloaded dapplr so I'll have to experiment with that some. I agree in terms of other foreign languages seemingly dominating Steem. It definitely feels more foreign than it used to, which is great for those native speakers/readers but for others it definitely makes it difficult. I know some of them at least try to offer translated versions in their posts so that's at least helpful. But yeah just based around my last two posts where I tested the waters, it's been made pretty clear that Hive is the standout for the time being.

Hive has more genuine engagement compared to steem.

What do you recommend to use in terms of website? I've only tried ecency and peakd and they both seem to have their pros and cons.

Try dBuzz too, it is a twitter like Hive dapp

I wnt back on both of thwm at the same time. I may be doing different post so it is not 100% comparable, but way more action on Hive for me, that's for sure. I am still not geving up on steemit, just that I prefer and prioritize Hive

Yeah just in the last two posts that I've done there's been organic responses vs Steem there's been nothing. I still think it's worthwhile to duplicate your post to each though especially in the case of SBI since it seems to boost both independently.

Another factor to consider is that there are many Hivers that will not upvote anyone that is active on both chains (and run analytics to identify whom to ignore).
Hive SBI does run separately from SBI, but if you decide to consolidate your efforts to a single chain, there is a mechanism to consolidate your membership to your chain of choice.

@josephsavage Very interesting I did not know that. Where can I find a breakdown of how to consolidate for SBI?

Last two paragraphs in the FAQ

So even if i do totally different poat on both chains , I would be ignored automatically..well that sucks (thinking of the effort factor here). Its good to know

It's not everyone, and I don't think it's even most people, it's more like a few people, but... those few people are some of the biggest whales. Realistically most of us are never going to get upvotes from them anyway!

Ahah true that and good to know. Thanks again for taking the time to share this 👍

I wonder what would happen if Adidas refused to sell shoes to people wearing Pumas?

This decentralized space is starting to feel quietly centralized.

Good comparison!
