If FTX news and updates show any difference, citizen journalism from Twitter folks is far far rich, too fast, much accurate, timely, as compared to the false and manipulated narrative being thrown by main stream media to general public
if citizen journalism is taken consideration, twitter has moved from micro-blogging to publishing media already, and is aiming to be the next Netflix of the Blockbuster franchises
main stream media is getting and ought to get hard competition from citizen journalists on Twitter
we only just witnessed the FTX update, but it will be seen and actually to much extent already has been seen for others too
Elon also mentioned for MKBHD that YouTube is S-Tier platform, for now. And has thoughts on allowing videos publishing and earning from it on Twitter, and many YouTubers and others also showed interest that they will move to Twitter, if this platform allows.
There is yet to be seen what new breed of content creators we get once Twitter starts to expand into more wider publishing media
if he actually done it right, I think it has the zeal to keep going and outcompete existing publishing media
if I think about it, most of the most popular, and known entities use Twitter, which attract regular joe like myself and others. This single thing is not really there on other social media networks so far to the level Twitter has.
That means inviting more counterparties to sit and still be along on the same network, where they have indirect communication media, it helps solve one thing which is very important!!!
Let me add a bit of context
The best medium of communications are:
- Face to face - In Person. The expressions, body language, presence of a person in front of you helps much much better in communication and there are far less chances of getting misinterpreted and misunderstood. Leading to rich, trustworthy and solid relation.
- Verbal communication - Where face to face communication is not possible, unlike Video or In person, this is audio only. It is still better, but possibility is miscommunications can happen, leading to potential conflicts.
- Text communication - The worst of the three. Not everyone is as expressive or able to express in text as everyone else, and this medium where allows to communicate, still leaves bigger chances to get misinterpreted and misunderstood resulting in some really serious conflicts down the line if kept going for too long, unless all of the concerns are actually really addressed by using other better communication mediums.
So, taking these points in consideration, I am very much inclined to think Twitter is ought to go hard on Visual publishing, and boosting citizen publishing as much possible. It's niche is literally citizen journalism at the moment if I'm thinking out aloud.
But for incentives, it needs rewards system, for people to keep contributing, and that reward system is not entirely there.
The spammers problem, common to all social media networks is crippling to quality conversations. A Decentralised ID and non-KYCed ID + Identity/content scoring system might be of some use but innovation is still very edgy on that.
regulators are afraid to allow big social media to build or use their own cryptocurrencies just because they hold too much social network power which is global netizens instead of some small portion of geolocated citizens.
That's why Elon said, there will be many dumb and silly things tried out over the years and only kept with works
and I trust he will do dumb things 😹
and I also expect regulators and main stream media will also push hard to manipulate, put dirt, everything about Elon and it's businesses.
