RE: UFC223: From Blessed to Raging... it is what it is.

in #ufc7 years ago (edited)

I didn't care much for the original fight with Ferguson, but when he dropped out and the Blessed stepped up it got my attention. I was really looking forward to it and rooting for Holloway.

I'm tired of Conor, Khabib, and Ferguson. A surprise victory by Holloway would turned things upside down and changed the conversation.

The current fight makes no sense to me. If Khabib wins, he's the champ. If Al wins... he's back to selling houses for he was 0.2 pounds over the limit at the weigh-ins and can't be the champion.

Still, I'd like to see him knocking out Nurmagomedov, just to see how Dana would spin it :-)

That's the first time I've seen someone say that! Ferguson Vs Khabib is in my opinion one of the greatest fights they could possibly set up.

I agree this fight with Khabib and Al doesn't do anything for me however if somehow he does win Dana has said he will be champion. The New York comission won't officially declare it for the title but the UFC can declare him as their lightweight champion if they like.

That fight was interesting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd time. The 4th time I just couldn't care less.

The only fight the UFC is really interested in is the Khabib vs Conor and all the guys they are throwing under Nurmagomedov are no match for him. The fight with Ferguson would have been Khabib v Barboza 2.0... nothing we haven't already seen.

I disagree and hope that not too long in the future it gets rebooked and we get to see the fight. I didn't exactly think Tony was set to win but do believe he'd be much more competitive than Barboza. Khabib has weaknesses but Barboza couldn't deal with his constant pressure well enough to exploit them. And Barboza also looked lost when he was taken down, Tony would be more comfortable there when that inevitably happened and would be able to attack Khabib from there more than anybody else has done.

Even if you are right though and it did go like Barboza 2.0 I still think Khabib needs it in order to be considered one of the best. If not then even if he retires undefeated he'll have the Tony Ferguson question hanging over him.
