The Jeddah Tower, formerly known as Kingdom Tower is set to be the tallest building in the world. Its original height has been scaled down from its initial proposed height by around one mile to 1,000 meters (3,281 ft.) upon completion though there are developments being made in secret while construction takes place. Even at this height, it would still be taller than the Burj Khalifa (currently the tallest building in the world located in Dubai which is 2,716 feet or 827 meters) by 180 m (591 ft.). It will be one of the world’s wonders and break the Burj Khalifa’s record in the Guinness World Book of Records as the tallest building in the world. Construction is still underway, currently at the 26th floor. It will have a modern city around it with the Jeddah tower the main center of attraction.
How Jeddah city will look like
A more fascinating thing is that it is being constructed on the coast where salty water could easily cause damages. To solve this problem, the foundations will be 60meters(200ft) deep to withstand the salty water and advanced technologies will be used to test its strength. The other challenge is wind. Strong winds can cause tall buildings to fall and the engineers of this project happen to have just the right solution. Regular change of shape. Amazing, right? Below is a list of the tallest skyscrapers in the world as compared to Jeddah Tower.
The building will be completed in 2020 and will soar above the clouds. It reminds for of the story of the tower of Babylon in the Bible. I hope these guys are not trying out what the Babylonians were doing. You know what I’m taking about, “invading God’s privacy.”
