Financing through technology-based financial services or financial technology (Fintech) peer to peer lending is increasingly popular with the public. This can be seen from the increase in financing distribution through Fintech.
From the latest data outlined the Financial Technology Association (Aftech) lending grew rapidly. Until July 2018 the loan amount reached Rp 9.2 trillion.
This figure is far higher than in 2017 which was only Rp 2.5 trillion. This increase is also believed to help boost the level of financial literacy.
The government itself targets financial inclusion of 75 percent in 2019 and is focused on low-income people, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and cross-group communities. Until the end of 2017, financial inclusion reached 63 percent of the population, or still a 12 percent difference until 2019.
"Fintech P2P Lending Cash Loan does target low-income people, micro-entrepreneurs. We want people to be able to understand more about fintech and services that can be used to provide more affordable, fast, safe and reliable financial access, "said Aidil Zulkifli, CEO and founder of Fintech UangTeman in a statement on Wednesday (03/10/2018) .
Chairman of the Financial Technology Association (Aftech) Cash Loan Loan Sunu Widyatmoko said the number of borrowing customers also increased dramatically.
Until July 2018, the number of creditors reached 135,000 and the number of debtors reached 1.4 million. The ratio of non-performing loans or non-performing loans (NPLs) is still low, namely 0.5 percent until March 2018.
"People increasingly believe in borrowing money through fintech, as an illustration, borrowers in Java grow 422 percent, while outside Java 759 percent," he said.
According to Sunu, increasing public trust in the service is because the public has begun to understand about the security of borrowing money at fintech. The advantage in Fintech is that it is easier for people to get loans than using services such as banks.
