Like the lion in the jungle he stands on the hill in pride and views his territory.
His chest puffed out and his nose in the air with authority and arrogance to all the lesser animals that are yet to gain the experience he has in the past year. His elders let him enjoy his moment for the time being because he deserves it. This is how every Corper feels on the day of their passing out parade. You have every right to feel the intense happiness and relief you feel now and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Today, While most of my friends packed their things and got ready to move out of Akwanga, a local government area in nasarawa state that's the northern part of Nigeria in west africa where i served, on the expiration of the 1year service to my nation, I watched them all gleefully exchanging contacts and Facebook usernames to stay in touch. For several reasons I thought within myself, it wouldn't be a bad idea too, but I'm equally scared of what everyone's fate holds tomorrow.
Different faces from different backgrounds, cultures tribes, states and schools all here where we all got used to each other's crabs and bullshits ☺. It was easier to get along with each other and make friends. Leaving and getting splitted after the long 11months plus left me emotionally broken, of course goodbyes are worst than 'kobokos' to me. I hate to hear it. Somehow, I know in few years to come, we will all be in different places holding different positions, perhaps we might have lost contacts with so many of us. At the same time, some will get to be assisted by others in climbing up the ladder, some faces we might not even recognise when we run into each other. That's just how fate operates.
The bottom line is we are all happy and certified graduates after completing one year of service to our nation, but the truth is, in few years to come, fate will decide where everyone will be, that's where my biggest fear sneaks in. Scared to lose someone I know, scared to know they ain't doing well in life, scared to know the whole struggle has amounted to nothing, and all we are left with is a signed and stamped brown thick paper called 'Certificate(s)'. I wish everyone well and I hope our 'chi' smiles on us all. I really missed everyone one of them 😞
