Video Preview: Full Mobile Logins Are Coming To Ureka.Social - Just A Bit More Testing To Go!

in #ureka11 months ago

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for all your valuable feedback with testing Ureka.Social. Great improvements have been made at high speed - very inspiring.
I just thought to drop you a video update to show you what I'm working on here for the next update to Ureka. The main big features is support for full mobile logins using HiveAuth (thanks to @arcange for the tech).

Once I'm done testing this code you will be freely able to login using browsers on mobile devices just like you can on other Hive sites.
At present you can still use Ureka on mobile, but you'll need to use the Hive Keychain's internal browser.. soon that will be a thing of the past.

Stay tuned, more to come soon.

Wishing you well,
@ura-soul

Can't wait to see it deployed.

Me too 😆
Currently debugging HiveAuth!

I'm reading this on ureka.social ! I'm eager to find what this has to offer. Is there a post on what makes it stand out? So glad to have client diversity!

I made the mistake of posting my comments on peakd which is a bit buggy for me here. lol. apologies for the dual reply.

Ahoy! Great, thanks for helping with testing. A new version should go live soon that fixes issues - in particular on mobile. Desktop is more stable in the current live version.
You can read the about page for more information. I will provide more details once the site is more finished.

I was finally able to see the About page. My last reply seems to have disappeared. Do

I just saw my last comment. The short: where is the android app?

Oh you had problems accessing the about page? it should be pretty simple to load it.
There is no android app in the sense of an app you can load from the Google play store. The normal website adapts to phones so you just need to load it in a browser on your phone. However, I have not yet completed the extensive work needed to get the site to render properly and for authentication to work when using regular web browsers, so for now the only way to login on mobile is to use the browser that is built in to the hive keychain extension. if you open that up you will see a globe icon at the bottom - this is the browser. if you load ureka.social in that browser then should be able to login there just fine.

While enjoying the privacy policy, I noticed it does not endorse ureka.social as the web site. Is this the best way to report issues or do you have a tracker for this?

Ah good call. I was originally going to host the site on ureka.org - my old domain. I realised that since Google blacklisted it a long time ago, I'd be better off starting with a new domain. I'll update the privacy page. 😎

Ahoy! Glad to have you helping with testing. You can read more about the site on the about page. This will be updated in more detail once I get the site more complete.

Just wondering, you doing this in phyton or?

This is a REACT client, so it all happens in the browser in Javascript. 💥

I tried to sign in but it wanted Me to open something else and sign up or something. I think I will stick to peakd and mewe...

this site is in test mode, so if you aren't comfortable with that, then yes, please continue using other sites.
i'm not sure what you are referring to, however, since if you login on desktop it is intended to work just like peakd and should open hive keychain for approval.
login on mobile only works if you use the hive keychain internal browser at present.
the next build of ureka will operate exactly the same as peakd etc. in terms of login for mobile.

I have "Hivesigner." But I was asked to sign up for something different... LOL!

Hive Keychain is the most secure and standard method for signing in to Hive sites because it doesn't involve transmitting your keys over the internet to login. Hive Signer is somewhat outdated in that it requires you to initially give your keys to the Hive signer server, which is less secure than Keychain - which uses a different process.

I see... Well. I just get hella confused by all that. LOL! I struggled getting Hivesigner going and am not sure I really want to try and change things up... Haha!

Ok, fair enough - its really not that hard to do. I don't think ureka will be supporting hivesigner due to the security risks involved.
