Due to the big number of translations we are pausing contributions on this category Until 11 January 4PM CET in order to avoid your contributions going unvoted.
Rule Changes
The following rule changes will apply starting 11 January 4PM CET.
Minimum 1000 words translated, unless the entire project has a total amount of words smaller than 1000. Rewards will be increased accordingly.
Translations that are obviously machine translated or where the moderator recognises low quality will be rejected immediately, without asking for enhancements. A temporary ban may be applied if the contributors keeps submitting low quality contributions. A lifetime ban may apply after multiple notifications.
More rules may be applied before the category is opened back on 11 January 4PM CET. An official rule update post will be provided with the final rules.

this is good... there should be a limit of contribution you can make every day.... i saw someone making three contribution a day.... i mean seriously???? only because there are a minimum of 500 words that doesn't mean you should make three contribution....
Contribution is contribution. As long as there is no rule to forbid it and the contributor did high quality contributions, why 3 contributions are problem? I fully agree that the low quality translation should not be approved. If somebody can make high quality translation, why cannot he submit more?

because submitting more contribution is the reason why this post was written and theres a chart of which 72% are covered with translation....
because submitting more contribution puts so much pressure on the mods
and every day there are some post that are not being reviewed and already has gone through 7 days so they cant get any rewards, that happens because there are some people who are hogging rewards from utopian..... are they greedy? what do you think?
do you want me to explain exactly how much money they are making doing this? i don't think i have to.... you can do the math, right?
so many people are coming into translation because its easy.....
new accounts are being created and they are going straight to utopian. what do you think why thats happening? because they found out there is a platform from which they can hog rewards so they are opening more accounts just for this reason.....
do you think this is normal? allowing this is normal?
so you were asking why 3 contributions are problem? he translated all of that in a single day, so why not make a single contribution instead of 3? he didn't so he can hog rewards and also that caused so much traffic in the translation category.....

Rules won't be changed in advance. There are 2 days before they will be enforced as stated in the post.

I've spent the last two evenings lovingly translating Steemit to Esperanto. I've managed to do 54% (1542/2807 words). Should I wait until after January 11th to do more?

I think no more than x% of total utopian upvote pool should be paid into one category...
So nice, maybe suggestion contributions get more % than translations.
This change has been necessary. Despite being done voluntarily, translation/localisation is a serious task. And it should move an open source project forward by letting it reach more people around the world, not spam it.
thanks for letting us know change in rules. I was expecting that; i always try to do hard work and translate over 800 words. we have to give value not just milk utopian. thanks for your hard work.

I often noticed that when I was skimming through Utopian for content to curate I would be seeing like 10 translation pieces for every other piece that was from any other category.

What is the definition of the number of words? It counts the words in the original document, or the words in target document?
For example, If I translate a 1,000-word English document to 400-word Chinese, it will be considered as 1,000 words or 400 words?
Chinese translation usually has much less words than the original English.
