A girl in Sai Gon

in #vn7 years ago

I met this girl on a stormy day, when i was strolling around District 1 taking photos for IHTBVN. Actually, saigon is one heck of a small town and people practically know each others, but i think its always feel nice to bump into people you know on the street, and in this case, its happened.

-What's your biggest concern right nao?

-I just want to graduate asap and go bake
-Bake? for the rest of your life?
-Yea… i mean until i figure it out what to do with my life.

She's a baker, as the matter of facts, she even has a Facebook page on her own called Bumble Bee. This is the one you should marry, she's sweet, charismatic and emotionally smart.

-So how long have you been baking?
-About a year or so, my mom used to bake a lot when she was young and that kinda grown into me in the last couples of years
-What kind of pastry is the toughest one to make?
-Macaroon, man these little cheeks really got me on my nerve, its so hard, it has to be crunchy on the out side and fudge-ish on the inside, plus you have to do this little thing around, and yea, don't even make me start on humid and all.
-Wow, didn't know those macaroon are so cheeky haha
-Hmmm but actually, the toughest one is just plain bread, its so simple yet so complicated, because its simple so you have to make everything right. Its easy for starter but gets harder and harder if you want to really master it. Its like i have this theory about everybody could fall in love with anyone they see on the street, but it has to be perfect timed, most of people don't really recognize they're wrong timing.

When talking to this girl, i have this huge urge of padding her on her head saying "its gonna be okay" its like she struggles her way through her 20s and there's no storm or macaroons could ever understand. But at the same time, it doesn't really bother her at all.

-So whats that thing you love the most about being here, right now?
-The way Saigon unexpectedly changes day by day. Yea it may not have all the seasons in the world with autumn leaves and summer breezes, but sometimes, the people, the rain got me this sweetest mini heart attack, striking enough for me and the singles to feel a glimpse of warmth in their chests, its like I'm having the whole universe in the palms of my hand just living in Saigon.
