Oh, how I have missed your posts! I had limited internet access for much of the past week so this is the first time in a while I've really been able to spend hours on Steemit again.

Ooh, this is good. The Russian/Soviet/communist presence in Africa is a fascinating throughline of 20th Century history. On the one hand, most of the colonial powers were capitalist and thus, independence movements found communism a natural bedfellow for the fight.

On the other hand, communism was and is a far worse fit for black African mindsets than capitalism and moreover, the Russians made no bones about the fact that they gave zero fucks about Africa. All we ever were was a Cold War trench-line between the Kremlin and the CIA.
