Gloomy watercolor No 1

in #watercolor5 years ago

This is... let me explain!

Usually, when I create my tiny watercolors or anything for that matter, I first have a sketch of some sort underneath. If there is one thing I find myself battling, it is stiffness and one thing I would wish to try and achieve over time fluidity. Does it make sense? Instead of having the sketched out idea, I decided to play with shapes, softness, and fluidity. Watercolor doodling. So… what the hell is this or what was I thinking when I painted this?

Well. I was thinking gloomy rockets, but the more it shaped and the more it flowed I began to wonder. Maybe it actually is some sort of shark, swordfish made out of stardust and clouds. Since I wanted it to be gloomy watercolor, I kept it all shades grey with the exception of the complimentary red dot.

Why gloomy watercolor? Simply because of the grey tones. I will call this The Gloomy watercolor project as I would like to try more of these silly, weird things.

However, I want to make it a bit more fun for people who read my blog and actively engage on Steem. I will give away 7 STEEM to the most creative and fun origin story of this strange creature in comments! Deadline will be on the 27th of March. I will transfer STEEM to the winner on 28th. It doesn’t have to be long and one story per person.

Also. Happy Birthday, Steem! ^^

I thought it looked like a building. Looking up at a massive sky scraper with one of those huge aerials on top. It is a doodle and very abstract so it could be something different to anyone. I see your sword fish, but I see a building. The round black thing could be a clock and it actually has two hands and the time is 14 40 lol.

Ah! I love how everyone can see something different there. Unexpected and cool at the same time :) To me it also looks like a some sort of robot too now.

This is clearly the loneliest Narwhal, Reggie. Reggie the Narwhal lived in the coldest part of the ocean, right on the edge of Atlantis. Reggie always dreamed of possibly playing professional football in the NFL someday, but he lived in a god damn ocean, far away from the stadium lights of a major network franchise. Reggie soon realized this, and let the darkness within consume him.

He gave up his dreams of being a quarterback, for the blood and carnage of his soul. Because someone from the bible demanded he do it. He soon began impaling all the little citizens of Atlantis on his horn. And after many weeks of slaughter, Reggie finally grew tired and took a nap. The end :)

lol, poor Reggie! Hope he has no nightmares from all the impaling xD

Welp, I'm a potato and just noticed that I won the 7 Steem. I promise it's all going to the strip club fund, can't wait for all the cocaine and lapdances, baby! save the lonely narwhals foundation. Which, also happens to be in my wallet.

Also, my fiancee apparently really wants to paint a depiction of Reggie, so thank you for helping to inspire that :)

Haha came here to write a Narwhal story, but you win good sir.

I will be honest. My first impression was narwhal, like @whack.science and @deadspace. After all, I am a nerd, I think maybe we all are here on Steem at least a bit... and nerds love narwhals. For some reason. Perhaps it is the trochee fixation.

Anyway. This piece is visually ambiguous enough that it can be multiple things at once. You say it started as a gloomy rocket and became something else, but I still see the rocket; not just a rocket but our rocket.

Here we are after over a year of downward trending markets and shit is still not fixed. Many of our comrades, who were subsisting on faith alone, have given up hope. At this time I think that we have reached a point where most of those holding onto "hope" as their only motive have let go and moved on; maybe with an intention to come back if things start to look up again.

Those of us left? We see the rocket for what it is. Uncertain and made of smoke and empty promises. But we still see it, even as the illusion disintegrates before our eyes, and it is beautiful anyway. And we are not hopeful, that one day it will be made material and take off with us on board. Instead we are determined; we are holding that rocket into the most rocket-like shape we can with the power of our collective will and talents. We are kindling the flames that will ignite the engines. We are determined to get this motherfucker off the ground.

Others may see puffs of smoke. But we... we still see the dream of our rocket. And we are gonna fight for that dream until it is realised, or else, we will fade into the grey puffs of nothingness right along with it.

Or it's a narwhal. But nah, I like mine better now ^_^

Is it turning into the grey puffs or emerging from them? Maybe once it emerges fully, it is no longer covered in the grey puffs at all and looks completely different. Despite the way this year has started, I think we have enough of those who will will it to lift off and reach Moon, Mars etc ^^

...Another morning that started with nice sunny day and blue sky. The little chick just woke up and he knew that his parents are already gone in search of some food for him. That was normal morning every day, therefore the chick was busy with exploring his nest and surroundings. It is already a midday, and the chick is hungry but still nobody is there. It is not unusual because sometimes his parents come really late so he needs to be patient. Few hours later it started to get darker, the sun is already gone. This night he realized that he will spend completely alone but the next moment he saw a beautiful silver moon in sky, that lighten up his nest. He looked up and did not feel alone anymore, he just thought that he only need to have a sleep and the next day his parents will be back. Only one more night...

Thank you for this watercolor experiment. Sometimes we never know when we start what will come up. But I see little chick desperately waiting for his parents. Cheers...

I can't write nice stories, I suck at that.
But I can only ask everyone one question... Who is that Pokemon? :D

So I see Narwhal is taken. Dang! So my guess is that you were craving gloomy grey pop corn. But to our surprise, there’s a hypodermic needle hiding within the center. Because what’s more gloomy than grey popcorn you ask? Grey popcorn with a hypodermic needle leaking drops of blood. If you look close you’ll see the blood. Yup. Tasty and full of protein! Enjoy the gloomy popcorn and the, what I’m guessing is a gloomy movie like Pans Labyrinth or The Butterfly Effect.

Ps - I like the red dot. :-D

As soon as I saw it, I thought it's a narwhal. :) looks like it. It also looks like it's crying.

I am on my job now so my creativity is all-time low haha

Happy BDay!!

You still have time to give it a go Mr. Spacely! ^^ Crying narwhal story? Ahaha!

Wish I wasn't on my job again and already in some semi-sleep mode :/ ugh 4 AM here, I just need to survive this. Ok, I'll give you a quick haiku :p

It looks like a rocket ship that is clouded over by its fuel as it explodes upwards!!! You can see the window where the astronaut is driving it :D

Go go go rocket!

It is a bit gloomy if the rocket is actually on fire, I guess? But I hope it's just the smoke from its ignition burst.... :)

Well what kind of gloomy scenario it would be without explosions and fire lol? Where is the rocket going? Or I guess since it is disappearing in the smoke, doesn't matter much xD

I think it is going away from a turbulent planet, maybe in an escape! To be honest, I don't really see gloominess though !
