Wedding Cupcakes Made Out of Love
Hello Hive Friends! Just want to share with you what I baked for a family friend's wedding.

I used to make baked goodies for a living. Though I like decorating, they were not the fancy stuff that had all the frostings and icings but they were more of the snacks type. When I transferred residence and up to the present time, I only bake for family and friends. Last April, a daughter of a dear friend was married. Since I am not into wedding cakes, my friend did not ask me to make one for her daughter but instead requested me to make some cupcakes to complement her simple wedding cake.

Why Out of Love

Nowadays, the prices of almost everything have gone up tremendously. The prices of baking ingredients increased as well and some of them have become doubled. So if you have to spend on something, you need to give it careful thought. My friend's budget was limited but it was understandable because money is not easy to find these days. At first, we debated🙂 on the price but then I decided to accept any amount she could shell out and I took charge of the rest. I am not that good in decorating but since it is something I really like doing; I became so excited and made plans on how to decorate the cupcakes. Most of the supplies needed for the decoration were not available in our local baking stores so I ordered from shopee. Although I spent more than what my friend allotted for them, I considered it an opportunity to hit two birds with one stone: I love what I was doing and most importantly, it was an expression of my love and a representation of my support for a significant milestone in her daughter's life. It was such a nice feeling that through my hobby I was able to serve others in my own little way.

The Cupcakes

I used a moist chocolate recipe for the cake (which I am going to share in one of my future blogs). For the icing, I used boiled icing and I wanted it to be all white so I did not put any color at all. Personally, I don't like to use artificial color for food. Besides, white creates a good contrast to highlight the toppings.

The Decorations

The motif of the wedding was old rose. To follow the color motif, I chose rosegold foil cupcake liners because it was the closest available shade to old rose. Using only one color for the cupcake liners can be monotonous, so I thought of placing something that was wrapped around the liners that adds variety creating a different look. It's called filigree lace cupcake liner wrapper. For the toppings I used gumpaste flowers and leaves which I ordered from a local supplier. I also bought from shopee some beads called dragees. They were edible but a person has the option to eat them or not. For easy carrying, I placed them in a box with holes that hold the cupcakes to prevent them from sliding or falling while being transported. This way, one would not worry about the icing or the decoration to be damaged.

I know they were not perfectly done but overall I was happy with the results. It helped me learn what aspect I need to improve on.

I'm not fond of taking photos but good thing I took some but these were only the finished products. I wasn't able to take photos when I did the baking and icing. Most of my previous baked goodies don't have photos too. Little did I know that one day, I would be using them for blogging. With this, I had to learn and get used to taking photos in some of the things I do.

Thank you friends for sharing your time with me by reading this blog.

Take Care!
