A freakin classic. And one of my all-time favs. I didn't like it at first, but when you're in a certain subdued mood it hit juuuuust the right spot. "Heal Yourself And Move" by Theo Parrish off the 1998 album First Floor on Peacefrog Records
The song starts out as about 30 seconds of odd notes, then a kick and gradual percussion come into play. But it's definitely a slow cooker. Little elements are added in very sparingly in an effort to laser your focus into a state of minimalism. The odd note pattern evolves in its tones and adds fresh new notes in the pattern to keep your brain in a state of funky weirdness.
Then a little above the three-minute mark we are greeted by these wonderful, calm-inducing deep waves and a vocal sample that steadily rises in volume. It's hard to make out what he's saying at first. After a few repetitions, you realize he's stating, "Heal yourself and move" in a trance-like fashion. Like a command. Followed by "Let God be your guide". And damn. That combination of the vocal with the deep waves gets me every time. Listen to the whole ten minutes for the full experience. Theo Parrish is an excellent starting point if you're trying to get into that 90's deep house sound.
Theo Parrish - Heal Yourself And Move
I agree great song, by a great artist!
Theo Parrish music is so deep that you need to get in presented when you are in the right mood for it. Deep, minimal soundscapes and slow building. Still so good- love it!
yes. deep minimal soundscapes and slow building is right. And it's funny I'm always in the mood for people like Theo and Pepe Braddock hahaha. Feel like my brain is geared for that tranquil style so I'm always down. Good to hear from you!
