RE: Whales and Others: Their Behavior On Full Display

in #whales6 years ago (edited)

@taskmaster4450 I can see your point all the way through this article but there's one thing you left out that has me disturbed and puzzled. Being new to Steemit I don't understand the point of the voting bots. I joined only 5 days ago, but reading through Haejin's posts it's clear to me that quite a few of his followers are AI bots. When I visit these faceless accounts that contribute nonsensical comments to haejin's posts, and sometimes the same thing multiple times, They are a new accounts that only have resteemed blogs from haejins account. And then it seems to me that obviously haejin isn't the only one employing bots to gain rewards, but that he's the one doing it best. Or perhaps he had the most starting capital to employ the most bots. Honestly, I don't really understand the point of ANY bots on Steemit. It seems to instantly devalue steem. And it clearly provides an opportunity for those who can afford to purcahse many steemit accounts. If this imbalance continues the content on steemit will be so poor no one will tolerate it, even for money. Besides, I'm under the impression the the value of steem is DIRECTLY tied to the value of the content on steemit, no? I mean, who would want steem if the only thing steem power did was gain you influence over garbage?

And speaking of bots, who are @beejayjung @spiritualmax @rodent @overkillcoin and @vimukthi ???

Haha...sorry guy, no bots. People just can't believe real success. It's really a shame, and all of steemit suffers when we leave along with 6k REAL people.

What does success have to do with it? My entire assement of Steemit has to do with the quality of interaction with others who are here. Being new and unfamiliar it's disquieting to think that bots are allowed here. The names I mentioned have not come to defend themselves and honestly their behavior on this post seems mechanical and weird. I haven't even ventured to look at their profiles yet. I'm just not sure who or what to believe. It's hard to make heads or tails of things here. But I am against this idea of bots. It seems completely antithetical to the entire concept of how steem is valued.

bots are controlled by people, the crowd is probably korean or chineese, they have been advancing their aims for quite the while, personally I don't mind and it's not much different in comparison to other crowds, lots of people use autosteem to maximise curation rewards, some even game them :)

it's been going on for a year at least, bots are 50/50 here, some are good some are bad, mostly it's overused leading to abuse.

... stop finger pointing, I bet you use voting trails as everyone else, communication is key so add to the conversation, I can lash out and act high and mighty just as well, that's besides the point, the question was about voting bots, btw I was one of the first people to follow haejin, well he found me first but anyways that's also besides the point, if you think you have any say out of those 6k people you have mentioned you can make your point seen and ideas taken into account.

Since I had interaction with the last 4, I can tell you they arent bots.

I am not familiar with the first one you mention.

Yeah, ok, looking at the profiles now. I guess Steemit is just a wierd, mystical place where you can never be too certain, lol! On one post I was reading the other day one guy was ironically mocking the bots and I totally thought he was a bot until I read another of his comments. But then again, I've seen bots arguing with each other on other posts.

it's not that mythical although when I was starting up I took a few months maybe half a year to get the general sense of things around here :)
