in #woodworking6 years ago

Now that I have the forend fully shaped I was able to applying the glass bedding to the forend of the 1903 springfield stock.

The clay at the front is to hold the epoxy in place, the electrical tape is to make clean up much easier on the sides of the forend. All that's left to do on this stock is sand and apply finish.

Hope you enjoyed this article if you have in questions let me know.

Do you have to put some kind of release agent on the barrel when you do this?

Yes, the epoxy used on this stock is Acraglas and comes with a small bottle of release agent when you purchase one of their kits, the barrel/action would become a permanent part of the stock if I forgot to use release agent.
I've had good success with wax as a release agent for most epoxies if I don't have Acraglass available.

Good job, and great work.
