I was watching a few of them to remind me what an interesting, exciting and hopeful time it was. Yeah, sure, people were still bitching about governments, but on the whole, I'd argue people were far happier then, and TV was a lot better too.

There was plenty of terrible TV back then, but we may have forgotten it. The media has changed with streaming and gaming getting so much attention from younger folk. Still lots of good stuff these days. We are not stuck with just 3 channels, so you can watch what you like, including all the old stuff if you prefer.

What "Good stuff"?

I don't watch a lot of TV, but I enjoy Taskmaster, House of Games, Doctor Who (when it's on), Digging for Britain, David Attenborough stuff.

I watch other stuff on Netflix and Disney+. The missus watches more regular TV.

Nostalgia is often rose-tinted. Remember all the shaky sets in things like Crossroads and Blake's 7? Of course more channels does mean more crap, so you have to be selective.

Hmm, close escape, young man. I was waiting for you to say crap like The Voice, The Masked Singer, and I'm a Celebrity.

I don't watch any of those, but I have been known to watch Strictly. I'm not against talent shows, but I'm a 'Celebrity' just annoys me. I'm not a fan of Ant and Dec anyway.

I rarely watch any news.

Crap is a matter of opinion.
