Exploring Dragon Temple (Wat Samphran)

Hey everyone, first of all I hope you are all doing well so far and that have a great start to the new weekend! In this article I would like to share a travelling experience and am happy if you like what I do.

I have already seen some extravagant things on my trips, but I was particularly amazed at how much culture Thailand has to offer and one of these sights was in any case the dragon temple which is also known as Wat Samphran. The temple is located a little away from Bangkok and was part of a day trip which I did during my time there and I not only visited the temple that day but went even to one of the largest open-air museums about I will share more in the future. I planned this trip alone and was not part of a guided tour and so I went to the temple of Bangkok by taxi and here I mostly used Bolt or Grab in Thailand, but I often experienced that Bolt is cheaper, but that also depended on the area for me, but it can always be worthwhile to take a normal local taxi, but it must be ensured that the driver turns on the taximeter and if this is not the case, just choose another taxi. When I arrived at the temple, I first had to admire the construction and this is a tower which is enveloped by a large dragon and for me it's no wonder that it is even considered one of the most spectacular temples on the entire continent.

When it comes to the construction, care was taken to integrate as much symbolism as possible and thus the height is connected with the 80000 teachings of Buddha and furthermore the temple is also considered as a sign of enlightenment and especially the dragon is considered a sign of protection or wisdom. All in all, I would describe the place as extremely mystical and it became even more interesting when I realised that the stairs go up directly through the Dragon in which there is a tunnel which is associated with different steps and the more someone go up, the more you enter the sky and the last step was the ninth heaven. At the top there was a viewing platform as well as some sculptures and possibilities to celebrate Buddhist rituals and since I was there relatively early I could hardly see any other visitors, but those I saw were also very fascinated by this temple.

Admission is officially even free, but donations are very important here, which is why I gave a donation to a woman right at the entrance and additionally threw something into the donation box, which is also more than important to preserve the temple. Then I explored the area a little further in which some other things can be found like a large hand which is associated with Buddha and next door there are also buildings where some things could be seen on the roof and there was also an extremely good way to take pictures here. I also saw some sculptures and it all seemed extremely traditional to me because also many monks in the area could be seen who prayed or gathered here, which is why it can be described in any case as a place of the polite meeting.
