#Set your goals
Set Specific Goals. consider what you want to achieve, and then commit to it. If you know you have trouble running more than a mile, start with what you can do. That is.
#Define your goal
Ask yourself: What exactly do I want to achieve with this infographic? Here are a few objectives you may have:
Reveal hidden trends and patterns using data.
Break down complex information and present it in an easy-to-digest way.
Provide your audience with a step-by-step guide on how to do something.
Raise awareness of a specific issue or cause.
Create a comprehensive, go-to visual resource on a topic.
Compare two or more products or concepts.
Translate a story, such as a brand story, into a timeline infographic.
Each of these different goals corresponds to a different type of infographic, so choose which one best fits your needs at the moment and consult chapter 3 of the complete e-book (download for free above) to determine the best format for your message.
#Make sure your goal is measurable and achievable
Measurable - Yes. It is possible to measure how many flights of stairs are climbed and it is clear whether two consecutive flights of stairs are climbed twice daily. If I am not climbing two flights of stairs, I can measure how many stairs I am climbing to see how far I am from my goal.
Achievable - Yes, it is possible to climb two flights of stairs twice each weekday.
#Ensure your goal is results-focused
Make sure that you move forward with your progress and take steps that get done in sequence to reach your destination.
#Give yourself a time limit, the "T" part of SMART
Your goal must have a deadline. Your deadline should motivate you and should be realistic. In terms of weight loss, a goal of one to two pounds per week is realistic. In terms of body fat, that translates to about a half a percent per week.
#Act on your goals
Once you've outlined your goals, it's time to jump in. Start following through with the small goals you've set for yourself. Try to work on them each day if you can.
#Praise yourself when you follow through
You've accomplished something, now give yourself some praise for it. It's good to tell yourself you did a good job, even if you only met part of your goal.
#Don't be afraid to up the ante
It's important to realize that in everything we do, there's always a chance that we'll fail. Facing that chance, and embracing it, is not only courageous – it also gives us a fuller, more rewarding life.
This really great work!
