"You're Not Even Successful" - They Said.

"You're not even successful on Steemit. I can't understand why you're wasting your time on some new BS platform." - Several friends of mine.

This is not the first time I've heard things like this. Most of my friends and my family members knows my background as a freelancer and many of my clients and co-workers have said more or less the same thing too. - Numerous times.

This all started 20 months ago.

It all started 20 months ago, when I found and joined Steemit. Upon finding this treasure I immediately started to advertise Steemit whenever I had the chance and wherever I could. - My advertising & marketing campaigns reached many "naysayers", and most people were skeptical.

Mostly due to the fact that no one could understand where the money actually came from. - And due to the fact that some users earned several thousand dollars on each post they published at the time I joined.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

And meanwhile I can relate to these peoples feelings and understand them all to some extent, I could never understand why they never tried.

I Showed Them The Things I Bought And The SBD/STEEM Values.

Now, we all know that we've seen both SBD and Steem valued more than this. The spikes have been one helluva crazy, wonderful and amazing experience and many of us have been able to earn more than ever from our contributions due to the spikes. We are obviously thankful, but to me, this was expected.

Ever since I joined Steemit I've been a firm believer in Steemit as a platform. I truly believe that we're sitting on something extremely revolutionizing, and that is also why I've been an active Steemian since I got here. (Except some minor breaks).

Due to some recent discussions I've had about Steemit, I showed some of my friends and former co-workers some of the things I've bought lately.

And now everyone wants in!

However, I've been able to buy these things due to the 20 months I've spent on Steemit. Hard work, time and effort. I've been consistent and I've had my fair share of ups and downs too... - So these things wasn't something I could buy after a few posts. This was some of the things I bought myself after 20 months of hard work.

I started out just like the rest of the newcomers.

I've worked myself up the "ladder". From 25 reputation and from 0 followers.

And This Is What I Have Today!

With a reputation score of 66.6.

I've been here long enough to witness the highest paid out posts in the history of Steemit. $31,000+. I've also witnessed that same user leaving Steemit after what seems to be some sort of scam. I've witnessed homeless people who's been able to buy food and get shelter and I've personally helped out several Steemians with their personal problems, financial problems and I've even donated money to the Steemfest travel fund. - All to help others as much as possible.

It's an amazing feeling to see that you can help others, no matter where they are. And I've been able to do all of this thanks to Steemit. - Steemit will, can and have changed people lives. - And I will be here to witness all the great things that comes in the future too!

How about some of my friends and co-workers...?

  • Well, I can't say. I guess they'll leave Steemit as soon as they realize that you can't buy a million dollar house the first week. - And that's probably why I'll be here fully dedicated to Steemit meanwhile I ignore them all.

THANK YOU STEEMIT!

It's so good to be able to prove people wrong and let your hard work do the talking. But now is not the time for gloating, this is the time where we need to be working and promoting steemit more than ever. This coin and platform are still in their infancy stages and we need to use this uptrend to attract as many new users as possible. Keep up the good work my friend

Yeah, I hear you and I will obviously continue to spread the word. However, I'll probably try to focus more on people who have an open-mind instead of naysayers. - I mean, it's their loss in the end.

Exactly, I have started to work on introducing big name celebrities to the platform in hopes of geting a few big social influencers who could really change the platform for the better

That sounds awesome, I hope you'll be successful with that!

I would like to think that some of your success has come in the form of karma for your generosity.

I don’t worry too much about the people that roll their eyes at me about Steemit, or anything else for that matter. It’s the people who all sour grapes when they pass over opportunities and realize they were wrong that get so ugly.

Oh, that's nice. Thank you very much and well said! :)

it is so easy to give up on steem, but i wont, just like you. we dont have anything to lose, right? :)

We have nothing to lose!
What else should we do with our free time? Waste it on BS platforms like facecrap and twatter? ;)

exactly. one cent is better than none.

It sure is! - Each cent is more than we've ever earned from other platforms, and as long as we fully understand that and take that into heart, we'll all be successful.

Well said, @hitmeasap. It feels like i've had the same conversation with my friends and family over the past year as well.

I've been surprised how difficult it is to get them to try something new even with no cost attached. The innovation adoption curve is real lol.

Yeah I hear you! - It's weird... But it's their loss in the end.

Yes, i've come to accept that as well.

I know those feels. It's weird but even friends and family of whom you would expect a little portion of trust look at me like im insane when talking to them about opportunities. I guess they only listen to you "after" you showed them your things, bank account, etc. Before that we are just people who try things without being successful. I'd probably think the same when somebody not successful yet came up and tell me stories about the stars + many don't believe in a win win system where investments aren't obligatory

edit: I hope you hodl some steem and wait till you can buy a house

I would love to buy a house with Steem or SBD at some point... But I don't hold my breath. However, I will invest in Steem and hodl as much as possible further on, as I want to grow and become more powerful with time. :)

Same here. sold some a couple months back and wish I hadn't. The goal is clear now so it's easy to keep grinding and just hodl

Yeah, I've powered down a few times since I got here and it obviously hurts even more now when I could've got ~$8 instead of ~$1 for each Steem I sold. - Life is life though, so there's no need to look back. I'm looking towards the future! :)

Wow. I am very impressed by your story. People will always kick against our vision but we must never give up. Your courage and determination is towering. I look forward to achieving similar feat soon.

I'm glad you liked it. Keep pushing yourself and continue to rise whenever you fall. - That's how winning is done! :)

Thanks for your kind words. Kudos.

Quit giving "free rent" in your head to folks that think like that.
Some folks will take the nugget of gold and some will step over it and call it fools gold ;-)

Well said! :)

I think the same.

My plan is to be on steemit as much as I can and be an active user so I can grow here.

Perfect mindset and approach. - I wish you the best of luck! :)

I am still awe since i joined this platform. I sometimes still cannot believe how a single post can value so much.

What I like about this platform is it promotes the idea of "you reap what you sow" or something like an "equivalent exchange". I mean you get the equivalent of the effort you invest in contributing to this platform. You may not see it in the short run, but in the long run, I believe that no matter how little your contribution is, it will have a great impact. Not only to you, but for the entire community.

Most important thing is, I am in awe of the culture in this "web-community" of helping out each other "for the greater glory" of not just a single steemian, but of the entire community.

Thank you for this inspiring post. 👏👍

Thank you very much and well said! :)

Steemit is definitely not a get rich quick platform, even though you can be very successful with your very first posts. Long term is what everyone should be thinking.

I agree, again, thank you for this inspiring post. 😃

Love the posts. I've had alot of the same problems, people joining thinking instantly rich... Nope!! Nothing in life is that free or easy, unless ya got in early. But people won't wake up until it's too late.. but is it ever too late? Or is that fear (or laziness) just holding them back...

That's a good question. I think it's a mix between the both actually.

The amazing thing to me about being a Steem evangelist is how few people really want in.

I tell them about it and what I have earned and they say, "I'll hafta check that out." But so far nobody has.

I guess people don't really want freedom and success. Sigh...

Thanks for the post.
Keep Steeming!

I hear you. It's crazy! Everyone should've become Steemians by now!

Wao! @hitmeasap

This is really a steemit testimony, i know for sure that you faced many challenges as a newbie but you didn't give up and now your success story is calling people to want to join steemit.

Honesty, steemit is the best place to be.

I celebrate you and I believe that you will witness outstanding success this year that will even attract people that have looked down on you before to start looking up to you. All the best.

Retards @funkylove

Thank you very much for those encouraging words!

People are so dumb. They only wanna get on when they find out about the post you made the most on then if they do get on act like babies when they're not making Much but don't want to put on the time! Argh.... mini rant, sorry. sighs

Haha yeah, I hear you. I feel the exact same way. People are dumb. :D

Yes we have a lot of people not willing to believe the possibilities or just not interested in knowing more due to no belief or just plain laziness. People will come and go. The believers and true steemians will stay. Ive only been here for a month but I'm powering up and am here to stay.

The believers and true steemians will stay.

That is correct and I've always felt that I'm obligated to make people become firm believers like myself. - However, it's very difficult at times.

Yes it is but you can't save people from themselves.

That is very true!

Great work. Well done. It certainly takes some commitment to get anywhere on here. Here's to keeping at it.

Thank you, I appreciate it and I agree with you!

Anything that is worth it, takes hard work. Steemit is about consistent persistence, and you are proof of that. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thank you and you're welcome! :)
