Chapter 9. In the cafe. Informal conversation

When they started eating, the boys ate in silence, and when they were more or less sated, Slava asked his friend an unexpected question:

– Tell me, how do you see your wife? You've thought about that, haven't you? Still, you're in your late twenties. The age is such that serious issues, such as marriage, should be approached thoroughly, weighing all the PROS and CONS.

Maxim looked at his friend in surprise. It was from him that he had not expected to hear such a question.

– You know, it's actually quite a complicated question. I have not yet considered burdening myself with the bonds of marriage. I wanted to take a long walk, because the girls stick to me like flies to honey...

– More like bees, – Slavka chuckled, but then fell silent under the stern gaze of his friend.

– This is how you always ask questions, and it's too stressful for you to hear the answer? Your thoughts are your steeds? Should I continue answering the question, or are you no longer interested in it?

– Why are you so angry? In an empty place? Of course, I am very interested in knowing what your wife should be like, because I am your friend. Maybe she won't let you go out with your friends.

– With you, we will be able to communicate at work, do not worry, – Maxim laughed – As for what I see my second half... - He paused for a few seconds and continued:

– Well, first of all, and this, mind you, is the main thing-that we have mutual love with her - until the grave...

At these words, Slava crossed himself slightly and tapped the table.

– Ugh, you can't say that.

But Maxim paid no attention to this and continued:

– Secondly, to be able to cook. Well, I will help her as much as I can. To be a good hostess and a great mother to our children, of whom I hope there will be at least three. Well, the fact that she should be a smart girl, with whom you can have conversations on any topics that are interesting to us – this is implied by itself, as well as the fact that she should be beautiful and elegant, able to outshine everyone around her.

– What requests you have! Be you with them eternal bachelor, – Slavka laughed – such ideal wives do not exist in nature.

– We'll wait and see, – Maxim smiled in response and asked – Well, did the beauty who spied on us not appear again?

– No, I didn't see her, – Slavka replied. – I think we'd better book a table in advance, and the one we're sitting at right now. Hence, the view is not bad, and few people will be able to see us here.

– All right. Then we'll pay and go to work.

Maxim called the waitress, paid the bill, left her a good tip, and at the same time asked if it was possible to book a table in advance.

– Yes, – the girl said, – here's your card, call and book any table at any time. Just keep in mind that there are a lot of visitors on weekends and in the evening.

Maxim thanked her and the happy friends left the hospitable cafe.
