I Will Write 500 words, and I will Write 500 More: 4

How did you get on with your writing goals in March?

I achieved a total of 13,628 words and wrote on 21 days. For days I did write on I averaged 649 words per day. for the full month the average drops to 439 words per day.
On five days I achieved 1000+ words

If I didn't write another thing this year my average daily word count for the year would be still be 105.

Over the month I posted 29 times to Hive and these were a mix of stories, poems, prompt responses, articles, and blog posts about events.

While disappointed to miss my 500 words per day target I am happy with the consistency of writing and posting, and at the same time content that there are just some days when writing doesn't happen.

I also think that if it wasn't for additional health issues this month I'd have probably hit target.

As I've mentioned before, I have ME/CFS. With this I have to budget my energy to achieve the essentials. My best time of day is the morning and, when I can use that time to write, I generally have a good writing day. But as it's my best time of day it is also when I will plan to achieve important tasks which often results in writing being something which needs to occur later on, when fatigue and brain fog have set in.

Several times through the month I found myself sat with writing time, but the mental effort was just too great. This was exacerbated as mid way through the month I injured my shoulder and have trapped nerves. This has made the physical act of writing difficult, due to the pain, and required use of painkillers which, apart from deadening the pain, made focusing and holding coherent thoughts, a difficult process.

It has also led to engagement being down with the three main communities I post in, @blockchainpoets, @theinkwell, & @scholarandscribe. Though I have kept mostly up to date with @dreemport.

I aim to do better this month.

I've been to the physio twice and am being a good boy and doing my exercises and the shoulder is moving in the right direction, hopefully by the end of the month I'll be back to full utility.

One of the highlights of the month did get written about in a post, but I'll mention again here how lovely it was to meet a couple if Hivers (Hivians, Bees?) in person. @bitterirony and @alessandrawhite were a joy to spend some time with, even though neither post to Hive very regularly.

Not all of my writing for the month was posted to Hive, and not all I posted was written this month. I continue to use stories and poems I have written over the years to provide content, though they always end up with edits as I am an inveterate tinkerer when it comes to my writing.

Of the none published things written most of it related to my essays for From This Side of the Pond. I finally finished my essay on Georgia, though I'm not happy with the ending at this point, and am now mid-way through writing about the Army Corp of Engineers and dams - a fascinating topic.

For next month I plan to: hit my 500wpd target; average 1 post per day; create a post with Aureal.

I also thought this would be a good post to track my Hive and HBD. As of today I have 401.058 Hive. 25 is received delegation (thankyou @shadowspub) and 351 is delegated out.
I have 79.585 HBD, which is all in savings. At 20% APR why wouldn't I?

How did you do with your plans in March?

Some will know The Proclaimers song I’m Gonna Be (500 miles). Well, it’s still the theme for this writing year: ‘and I will write 500 words, and I will write 500 more’.

okay you got me to go check my numbers.

So I did 31 posts in March with a total of 19,333 or an average of 624 words per post.

however, 7 of my posts were podcast notes and Dbuzzes with less than 200 words in. So 24 full posts with a total of 18,881 words or an average of 786 words per post.

My weekly podcasts is a narration of content previously written by me. I narrated 3,384 words in 5 podcasts.

I'm on a quest to publish on Hive every day in 2023. I do dBuzzes on days when I'm just not up to writing a post or get caught short of time.

Sorry about your arm, I hope it gets better soon.

You post just made me think that I should be more conscious about my numbers and progress. I'm glad that you're keeping tabs on your growth.

Thank you for sharing ✨

That's an amazing achievement! I did NaNoWriMo back in November, which was an amazing experience, which really kicked me into top gear, when it came to writing and finishing my novel.

Yeah, I think during the morning is best for me too, I can tend to find an hour early on to write.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder, hopefully, you recover soon. Good luck with your next month!

I know I'm not going to go and check my numbers. Hehe.

I will tell you one thing, you are doing an amazing job. It doesn't matter much how much is written but how well you've written. Coming across your content regularly, I will give you a thumbs up.

I guess I did great. How do I know the numbers of posts I made in March? I guess it's more than 31 because there are days I post twice.

My favorable time of the day to write and get ideas flowing is early in the morning or at night when people have gone to bed, there would be total silent then which makes it easier to write without distraction.

And other times, it's in the afternoon. In fact, I write when I get some inspirations 😂

I hope to do well this month too.
Sorry about your shoulder. I hope it's relieving you already?

I popped in through #dreemport

You did a great job in March despite the hiccups along the way. Writing doesn't come easy to me but I do manage to bring out an average of 450 words for the last week of March.

I pray things get better and you're able to achieve your goals for April :)

Although I'm not that consistent, but I ensure to post at least 5 times a week, 20 times a month. And the results so far has been encouraging

It's amazing to have creative goals to help us through health struggles! I have MS/Fibro here, and I totally get the feeling of brain fog throwing a wrench in things. Big hugs to you, I think you're doing great! :)

First thing I thought of: The Proclaimers!
I wondered if anyone else did?

I hope you get better soon. It is nice knowing you still write despite it all. Keep strong!

Just to be the man who types down 1000 words
To fall down at your pooooooooooooooost!

Honestly, I don't have many words related plans or rewards, just have a target of getting the Yearly Author badge from Hivebuzz.

You are doing an incredible job, Stuart! You should be super proud of yourself. I am trying to write more too...but I go in fits and starts still - too much juggling. You have such a clear focus despite your struggles with M.E. / CFS. Have you ever heard of Ren Gill? I am doing a #ttt on his music this eve. I will tag you. He is an incredible musician and has M.E. / CFS too. I know the struggle is very real for you.

I popped in from Dreemport this eve 🤗 Keep up the great work!
