She's been thinking about April all her life, she'd planned a surprise since last year and as April drew nearer she couldn't wait to share her pot of gold.
Her surprise was quietly steaming near by , I could hear it bubbling, the aura it carried strolled to my nostrils, it was alluring I almost fell for it but I managed to keep my composure. April was a few days away but I couldn't wait for it.
The sun that shone that morning seemed to understand my joy, it shone with a peculiar radiancy, the kind that could be said to come forth when a legend is born. I don't know what the fuse about April is all about but I feel that it's something big.
August, has been my friend, we met in a birthday party and our friendship had blossomed since then. Though I was less privileged, she did all she could to put ready smiles on my sorry face I could only wonder what she had in mind this time as she'd been ranting about April.
For sure April isn't my birth month, my birthday is still about 7months away. I gleamed as I thought about April and the good tidings it held for me.
Few days later, songs of Happy new month flew from here and there. The long awaited April was here! I stared longingly at my phone tempted to call August but I waited a while longer .
Soon, my door bell rang and I half leaped and half ran towards the door. As I threw the door open a sad looking man stood by the door. A letter for you miss he barely uttered, I felt a cold chill, and barely muttered the words thanks while I went in to unleash my joy on its contents. It must have come from August, I said whilst tearing open the envelop.
The letter contained information that August was involved in a ghastly motor accident. Hot tears ran down my cheeks. This couldn't be! I wailed uncontrollably and confused at what to do next.
I tried her line but it wasn't reachable I screamed and cried out my eyes tearing up my dress in the process.
Few minutes later, I heard a faint tap on the door I flew to the door expecting to see another delivery man telling me that it was all not true ,but rather August was standing there glowing in white. I almost ran away but my feet were rooted to the ground. She just laughed out and said, see this girl oh! So you believed? April Fool jorh! So you love me like this?? -So typical of August!-
Remember last year? When you made me travel all the way to the Jos, because my mum was supposedly being operated on? This is payback girl!
Last year, I had pulled a similar prank but I never knew August would do something like this. I'd never known her to be as crazy as I am.
I wanted to kill her right away!
I knew my friend was mischievous but I didn't know she'd gone bananas too.
I pursued her round my room and God knows if I get her I'll smash her head with this pillow!
And as the solemn April breeze blew on our faces, in-between giggles I vowed never ever to play the April game anymore!
