After the runaway success of the Chinese Social Media App Tik-Tok, it seems Google is ramping up efforts to rival it by the end of this year.
As per sources, Google is actively planning 'Shorts" as they are calling it now, which will allow users to include a feed of brief videos uploaded by them. Additionally, users also have the ability to take advantage of the video service’s catalog of licensed music and songs to dress up their videos.
To quote
Shorts will include a feed of brief videos posted by users inside the Google-owned app and will take advantage of the video service’s catalog of licensed music, songs from which will be available to use as soundtracks for the videos created by users
This is a clear sign that even giants like Google have been rattled by the success of Tik-Tok, which has taken off with a bang and is currently one of the most downloaded apps in Asia, and slowly making a mark elswhere.
