2005
I went through the hardships of Yule and Year.
Rinsed by fatigue and cleansed out by fear.
So now I'm ready to take on the bear
costume I found in a box in the rear
of the workshop that belong to my dear
wife who collects all strange sorts of gear.
As a bear I will act as a magical seer
who predicts the future from all that I hear,
in the sound and the rumble that reach my ear,
but expect not that I will make myself clear.
From the hairy, old creature that stinks of beer
you'll only get things that sounds dim and looks queer.
But if nothing else at least I'm still here.
Happy 2005 everybody
Danish cabaret artist Liva Weel
Now I'm not sure what year it is. She looks more like 1925.
English can be a good language for rhymes.
Hope you are well and that good things are ahead.
!BEER for a bear.

Happy new year to you too!
Happy New Year to you too! Great to see you're cool 🫡

.And I am very glad you are! Welcome back, for however long. I gather it hasn't been an easy year for you.
I love the way you broke the lines in that first stanza. It's cleverly clunky.
2005?
Right now I have delegated my HP to Ifeanyi, so I am at least not wasting money :) I will write some more here, for fun and hygge.
The clunkyness was inspired by Danish architect and poet PH whose breakthrough lyric on the Copenhagen cabaret scene used exactly that clunkiness. Liva Weel the singer pictured above was famous for singing his songs :)
I saw that you had delegated to him, when I checked out where he had suddenly gotten such clout. Good choice! And you get a tad of interest, so there's that. I'm so happy you're back though, however much you manage to be here. I love your work.
I am reading a book you might appreciate. The Book Censor's Library Bothayna Al-Essa. Translated from the Arabic. Books that bite! Children with tails! I love this thing. It's going to be over for me way too soon.
I hope you've been well?
Thank you - everybody has some sort of virus right now, me included, so I've taken a few days of reading and drinking tea. I guess that is actually quite okay even though my throat is sore.
Your book sounds very interesting. Freedom of speech and freedom as such is things I think a lot about these days. I will see if I can find it in the library.
I got mine in my hillbilly town's library. It was right out there on the front desk as a new acquisition. A downright subversive book! I gotta get friendly with the book curator.
I've found it. It was not in Copenhagen, but you can order home books from libraries all over the country so now it will arrive someday soon.
This art looks like a real black and white photo, very accurate work
It is actually just a photo :)
