Hi community!
To make up the eleven against PSG.
Barcelona faces PSG this Wednesday in the second round of the Champions League group stage. It's an exciting match against the reigning European champions, although Luis Enrique's team is admittedly missing a number of players, some of them as important as Ousmane Dembélé, the reigning Ballon d'Or winner. Hansi Flick is also missing from his squad, forcing him to make changes in some positions and raising doubts about his starting eleven.
The first doubt centers on the center-back pairing. Ronald Araújo's presence should be mandatory due to his quality, but in this case it's not so clear given what happened two years ago, when he was ineffective in the Champions League knockout tie against Paris Saint-Germain. The Uruguayan was sent off, and that proved crucial in the French side's comeback. If he weren't playing, the pairing would be Eric García and Cubarsí.
It's also unclear who will play at left back. Alejandro Balde will return to the squad, but it remains to be seen whether Flick will start him or leave him on the bench. The German coach is always very cautious about returning players, but the importance of the match could give Balde the starting spot. If he doesn't play, the starting lineup would be Gerard Martín.
The other question mark is in the attacking positions. Lamine Yamal and Olmo will start: the former due to his own merits and the latter because Flick announced it in the press conference after the match against Real Sociedad. The other two spots will be between Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and Rashford, and it's not at all clear who will be chosen.
If we focus on the center forward and look at the minutes played against Real Madrid, it seems that Ferran could start, coming off in the second half, while the Pole played the entire match. However, these two players could also be included in the starting lineup.
Rashford, who played 77 minutes on Sunday, would then remain on the bench. In that case, Ferran would play more out wide on the left flank.
See You soon!
