May Carnival in Groningen City

Buying a present for Mother's day

Aalfnouwa, by train from small town Winschoten to Groningen City. A nice Sunny day, with a horror temperature of 19 Degrees Celsius. Luckily there's a Northern wind to cool things down a bit. It had been a while since I traveled to Groningen by train. A nice trip, just long enough to take a quick nap. After I almost had no sleep last night, this was the way to catch up to some needed rest.

Mother's day here in Nederland this Sunday the eleventh of May. Finding some nice presents can be a real pain in the neck. Enough stores here to choose from. But in Groningen I have way more choice. And that's where I did succeed. As it happened to be the Carnival was in town, so I had a short look around there. So many things there that I would not take a ride in.

And I remember when my offspring was still in the Carnival visiting age. When I had to go into those horrible turning and going up and down machines of terror. Hearing my Kid next to me shout: "Yihaaa, faster, faste...!!!", while I whished it was over. Feeling like I could puke any second. Well, the little one was having fun, so that made it all worth while.

Today I thought about going for a cool beer on a terras. Preferably a Duvel, as that is my favorite currently. But it was extremely crowded everywhere. And I remembered that I had a Beer Taste Evening today, so I will enjoy a terras in Groningen another time. Time to head back home. Tonight it's enjoying beer at Joe's Garage, the tiny pub of one of the Grumpy Men Beerketeers. Enjoy your weekend!
