PV's Log #150 - Tragic story of missing cellphone...

in #blog2 years ago

Hi Folks!

Last Sunday I went to check out new pizzeria in the area with my family. on the way to the car I threw out the garbage, then, in place I found out that I didn't take my phone... well, it must be in the car I thought. But it wasn't there - so I thought, well, I had to left it at home - but there I also couldn't find it.

The dramatic story begun - I was checking everything, everywhere - in my car, at home, even in the garbage.
I was trying to call on my number all day - I could hear the signal, so the phone was working, but nobody answered.

The problem was, that I didn't turn on the localization and data transfer in my phone, so I couldn't use any tools to find the location.

My stupidity was that I didn't make any copies of all the images and videos from the memory card.
I was devastated - I lost my memories, many unique photos and videos of my growing son, many different shots from places I visit and things which inspired me... This was the biggest loss - of course - the value of the phone itself and all the problems connected to changing logins to different apps and other security actions were also very problematic.

The phone was working all Sunday, Monday and even today's morning but still nobody picked up my calls - the phone was living somewhere but I couldn't understand what was happened.

Today in the morning I ordered a copy of my sim card which deactivated the old one so - officially I lost the contact with my lost phone - I accepted the loss, I was really sad and really angry on myself, couldn't focus on anything during that days.

One thing I missed in the whole story - the probability that I lost my phone in the pizzeria in the very beginning. It must have slipped out from my pocket when I sat on the big sofa chair... how I didn't saw it lying there? Have no idea...

So in final - someone from the pizzeria called to my wife's phone, luckily the phone wasn't very well protected and the owner checked the call status and found the number. (I had the finger prints protection to unlock the phone but also a 6 digit pin which was easy to guess...)
They didn't answer in Sunday because my phone was muted and the whole Monday the place was closed.

I got back my phone, but I learned many things for future - making the backups, setting up a better protection, install some localization app, turning on the data transfer whenever I am going out...

This time I had more luck then wisdom... Crazy story and crazy 3 days, just imagine how You could feel right now if You will loose Your smartphone?

Are You protected? When last time did You made Your backups of the memory card?

Omg… what a story. I so can imagine the feeling of having it all lost. The photos and memories.
I’m soooo glad you got it back in the end from the pizzeria. What nice people.
You must be so happy!

I needed 5 minutes to realize myself, that it is waiting for me in that place, and it was there all the time... hard to describe the feeling ;). Quite a story which gave me a lot to think about...

I can imagine @photovisions 😎
A phone, nowadays, is sooo much more than just a phone. Scary when one loses it.
Glad all is good in the end.

I'm glad you got your phone back 🤗
I once left my bag on the bus. Since then, I always look at the place where I was and make sure I have all the things I took with me.

Yes, that is a good advice - i usually check the place bu this time I didn't - You never know, so it is good to be prepared for any scenario and think ahead.
