Hello Everyone. It’s time to PICK UP THE MIC to tell you about "The day I got the Admission in my College".
HERE's HOW THE STORY BEGINS........
It was the D-day.
Today I will get to know the answer to the mystery, will I get the admission or not. I was very nervous and excited at the same time. I was looking forward to my college life.
When I got up in the morning I feel like it was the hottest day of the year. I was in a hurry because I don't want to get late. I don't know what time my name will be announced for the admission, so the hurry was justifiable. I was in such a hurry that I almost forgot my admission form and the document file... hahaha.
I went to the college with my dad. When i reached the college my excitement level was at its peak. I reunited with one of my school friend who was also applying to that college. I was happy to see a familiar face. Although the major we are applying was totally different, but it was a relief to see my friend. His name was Biswajit and in college we call him Padu, BTB (short for biswa time bomb)......haha......it was because he farts a lot.
So after uniting with my friend we went to the auditorium of the college a.k.a the venue of the d-day (admission venue). A whole lot of students were gathered there. For once it feels like I was in a cricket match with lots of fans cheering for the team as it was loud in there with all the sounds coming from the admission committee announcing, students talking, traffic sound from the road etc.
After witnessing the overwhelming site we went to find ourselves some seat to sit. We don't know when our names were going too announced, whether we will get the seat or not. Although we were sure that we will get the admission as our admission number was early but after see the crowd i was getting second thoughts.
Finally my name was announced. I got up, took my documents and went to the admission booth. I was applying for B.Sc Math’s, so I went straight to the Mathematics Department booth. But then a gentleman told me to go to the document verification booth first. So I went to that booth and then I got the most terrifying news, the man on the verification booth told me that my documents were not complete, I can't get admission. I asked which document I needed; he replied “you don't have the gap certificate". Gap certificate is required by those who had taken gap after their 12th standard (I had taken one year gap as I was preparing for the engineering entrance exam). I told the verification man that "I had the gap certificate issued by the court". But he rejected that certificate. I asked "why". He said "only the gap certificate written by a government doctor or by a gazette officer is allowed (it was a new rule added that year that I missed to read).
So I went to my dad and told him all about it. His face got all worried. Then my friend came to me and told that his gap certificate was also rejected. We were thinking now what to do. Then we went to a civil hospital but the doctor was not there. Then we went to get the certificate sign by a gazette officer. But we were not able to get them also. Then my friend remembered that his cousin was a doctor. After hearing that I gave him a tapli (a slap in behind the head) and yelled at him pehle nahi bol sakta tha (why didn't you tell at first). Then we both laughed and went to meet his cousin.
And here's the twist of my admission. My friend told me his cousin worked in a hospital as a doctor, but when we reached the hospital I got the twist of my life. It was a mental hospital. Then we went to his cousin. His cousin wrote the gap certificate in which he wrote that "we are perfectly healthy both physically and mentally to take the admission now.....haha
We went to the college in a hurry. After reaching college we ran to the verification booth. My documents got verified though the man took some time to think whether the gap certificate will be applicable or not. But in the end he allowed me. Then I went to the mathematics department booth. I was lucky as only one seat was left for admission in B.Sc Math’s. I was relieved to hear that at least one seat was left. I got the last seat because it was the last seat of the OBC quota and i belong to that category (we Indians have reservation everywhere based on our caste, economic condition etc). I got the admission and went straight to my dad to tell him the news. Then my dad immediately called my mom and sister to tell them news as well. After that I went to see my friend and I witness that the man on the verification booth was not accepting his gap certificate, the same type of certificate that he verified just 5 minute ago. But my friend was persistence and stubborn. He will not clear the booth until and unless he will approve it. At the end it was approved and he got admission in the physics department.
Finally I got the admission in my college and I was looking forward to see what more surprises my college has to offer.
Well that's it for today. I will continue this series in my next blog, look forward to it.
So its time to DROP THE MIC.
See you all next time.
