I suppose we would be foolish to believe that the old greater-world truism "when money is involved, people start to get sketchy" doesn't hold true, just because we're on the blockchain, and transacting in crypto.
Hive's strength is in its variety and accessibility, compared to more of the Cryptosphere. We do have a pretty decent community here, and it covers many bases. Sure, some people sell out, but they likely joined here on the premise "make money on Hive," so can't really blame them for following through on that.
Perhaps Hive's weakness is simply decentralization's weakness, in general: an absence of a coordinated organized effort to keep Hive in the news. Yes, "any one of us can promote Hive," but that's not the same as having a PR/Publicity desk.
I'm here for the long term... and looking forward to whatever unfolds with Holozing!
