Coffee--cold brew--miriamaendres style

in #cooking7 years ago

For me, cold brew coffee is a weekend treat. I have looked into all the fancy bits of equipment that the stores want you to buy, sorry I am not into extra stuff.

Equipment I use:
Glass bottle
Coffee grinder--if you prefer your beans to be freshly ground
Coffee filter (my partner uses a Swiss Gold cup 'coffee for his morning coffee) I use the gold filter area
Extra cup to drain the coffee into
Funnel--I am not always good at pouring from a cup back into the glass bottle.

Ingredients:
Cold water from the fridge
Ground coffee (I have freshly ground coffee)

Method:
Add the ground coffee to the cold water.
Put back in the fridge for 12 plus hours (I have left it for 36 hours)
You will notice that the coffee will sink after a time
Strain the coffee
ENJOY
I usually put the strained coffee back in the same bottle till I can enjoy it when my partner is around.

great recipe. i appreciate your post
thanks

Let me know how you go. I have simply adapted it to suit myself. When I drink it I have honey in the coffee. I have found that I need to have the honey already in the cup, then add a bit of coffee, stir add more coffee, stir etc.

yeah...and it worked very well for you
will keep you posted
meanwhile do also check my blog post and read up some good articles

Well, that sounds pretty - awful. Being hot is part of the coffee experience for me. And also, your method takes much too long... :)

Granted, it may not be for everyone. My partner is a hot coffee person. With a number of things that I prepare there is often time taken before hand to soak the ingredients. For me, the results at the end are worth the soaking time.
