Anxiety & Depression - How to Stop the Horror Movie!

in #dtube5 years ago

Hello again! If you read my first introduction blog or watched the accompanying video then I thank you.
This post really follows on from the last one, in which I spoke about how you can take the first steps in making sure that your mind works for you, thus ensuring that you, the driver in the seat, is making all the decisions. The auto-pilot switch needs to be turned off as often as possible for you to be more in control of what you think and how you respond to your universe.
For this post I'm going to focus upon the smaller mechanics of 'why' we may feel something. That 'something' which directly influences our feelings and therefore our actions. Once we understand the rules of the game, we have the best chance of success.

For us to feel something there is a stimulus. It can be an event which is happening now, a past event that we remember or a future event that we are constructing. Either way, you feel the feelings in the 'now', as I have mentioned in the previous post. Let me explain how this happens.

First of all, realise that you don't make all the decisions within your body. You do not consciously control your heart beating, your liver functions or your bladder functions either for that matter. You have the ability to make new cells all day, every day and yet you are never aware of it actually taking place. You do not make the conscious decision to exchange oxygen for carbon dioxide. It is a fact that there are things happening inside your body that you will never be fully aware of. For example, most people are not aware that when you take a selfie, it is not one person looking back at you, it is a whole culture watching and listening to every thought and action you take.

Your cells, each and every one of them, respond to what is happening to you. They do not question the situation, they merely respond. Sometimes when I hear a certain piece of music (The Doctor Who theme! I'm a big fan) I get goose pimples. Why? Because the stimulus (the music) generates a feeling. That feeling is transmitted to the cells and the result is my hair stands on end in excitement. Of course the same can be said for the feeling of fear, for instance. We feel nervous, then the listening cells respond which makes us shiver all of a sudden. Or we see our favourite food and we begin to salivate. It is always the same. Thought comes first, then there is a response to that thought. It is as though you are the President of the town called 'Myself'' and every citizen hangs upon every word that you say. Every citizen of 'Myself' does exactly what the President tells them to. Whether the information is true or not does not matter to these citizens, for they do not question the President. You are the President of your town called 'Myself'. Get used to it. You were put in charge the moment you were conceived.

Good old science tells us that our cells exist, as do all animals and plants, in a world of vibration. If something vibrates, it will emit waves. Just like the speakers at a big concert. If you stand anywhere near the things, you are going to feel your insides vibrate due to the waves of sound passing through you. When we speak, we are producing sound waves of course, but never forget that the citizens of 'Myself' are receiving those waves of information too. When we think, we again generate those waves of information and send them straight to the cells of our body. Those cells will always listen and will always respond.
I watched a video online of an experiment, whereby you place two strawberry's in two separate transparent plastic bags. One is labelled 'Love' and one is labelled 'Hate'. To the 'Love' strawberry you say nice things to it daily. You also say horrible things to the 'Hate' strawberry daily. After something like a week, the 'Love' strawberry is still flourishing, whereas the 'Hate' strawberry has turned rotten and black.
I can see exactly why the strawberry either thrives or dies depending upon the intent of language that is spoken to it. The vibrations are either nourishing or poisoning. It is the same with the language you speak to yourself, which of course are your thoughts. Remember: every cell is listening.
The same applies when we speak out loud. Every time we communicate, we are literally sending out vibrations. Just like magic, one cruelly intended sentence can destroy another persons feelings. Obviously one sentence can also lift a person from hell to heaven. Just like a magic spell. As the saying goes, that's why they call it 'spelling'. This is one of the main reasons we feel awful after an argument. Just like the strawberry, we will actually wither from negative messages being received and we shall thrive when we are immersed in positive messages.

This is a scientific fact. We cannot help it. We are always sending our waves into ourselves and the environment around us. So is your dog, so is the TV and so are your loved ones. When you know someone well enough, you can instantly tell if there's something right or wrong with them as soon as they are within your presence. Why? Because you are picking up on their vibrations. The vibration coming straight from their very being. From thought to feeling to its expression as vibration. That's why we say things like, 'I liked him, he was on my wavelength!'

You have felt this actually happening in real time yourself. How may times have you walked into a room and felt those 'vibes'? You just pick it up from the environment like a radio antenna. Whether they be good vibes or bad vibes, you feel them, sometimes very strongly. It is one of the most fundamental tools that is designed to keep you alive. With not one word spoken, you have an instant 'knowing' about a place or a person. For me personally, nine times out of ten, the gut instinct is correct. The sheep knows that the wolf is a threat without language. The elephant knows the poachers intent before the gun blows away his existence.
We have all been with a group of people and everything is flowing well and everyone feels comfortable. Then one person joins the group and changes the whole dynamic. How? Because the vibrational waves the newcomer brought with themselves, are penetrating everybody within the group and thus directly affecting how they feel. We are conditioned by our culture to place more value upon words than our gut instinct, which is why we can end up in bad relationships or bad situations. It is simply because people said the right things and we possibly ignored our gut feelings that were picking up on those bad vibes.

So now that you are aware of how these mysterious vibrations work, the next question must be: How does this help me with my mind?
We have established that thought produces feelings. How we respond to such feelings is largely dependant upon the meaning we have attached to it. If a friend mentioned that you looked like you've gained some weight, you could find the remark insulting because you are sensitive about your size. If on the other hand your goal was to gain weight, the remark would be a compliment.
Saying that your mother looks younger with curly hair, may seem like a compliment at the time, but your mother may take it that you're saying she looks old the rest of the time, merely because of the 'meaning' she has attached to it.
When the mind encounters such a 'meaning' it will produce an instant story or a movie, that can, when given the fuel, go around and around. If that movie induces undesirable feelings, we can find ourselves in a world of pain. A cycle of thoughts and feelings, more often than not, end up on a loop reel, coming around and around, driving us into despair and making us weaker by the day.

If we allow any undesirable movie to gain momentum, it is the same as drinking drain water. We poison ourselves. There is the story of the two wolves that live within your mind. One wolf could be named 'happiness' and the other cold be named 'sadness'. The one which will survive, is the one you feed. So the lessen here is common sense: Avoid consuming any poisons and do not feed anything that you want to go away.
A poison in this context would be those thoughts that are unpleasant and harmful to you. A hard pill to swallow is the fact that it matters not one bit how much pain you are in, it will not change the outcome. Only responsible action will. It is absolutely healthy and normal to feel broken. It is expected that trauma leaves us injured. But we must push forward when we are able to. For if we never move again, then we are chaining ourselves to the pain forever.

We must first notice that the movie is happening. In my last post I spoke at length about how being present in the 'here and now' gives you a platform from which to notice such movies playing along in the background. Those are the movies that bring us down into the dumps without us even knowing why. I have said allowed many times that 'I feel really awful today and nothing has even happened to me!'
Once we have noticed the movie we can decide to walk out of the cinema. We can start to see what meanings we have attached upon events or experiences. We can start to see that those meanings are hurting us.
The key is to realise where the movies are coming from. Realise that they are not real, they are only movies that you produced and they are not true. Realise that you do not have to believe that meaning. Do not dwell on the movie, for if you do, you feed it. You give it strength. You will poison yourself.
Get yourself a alternate distraction. Feed yourself something else more healthy. Prepare pastimes or hobbies as distraction tools (mine is gaming or song writing). You must be more determined than the movie, because it may come around again and again, over and over. Realise that if it is not fed, then it will die. It will lose its power and fade away.
You do not have to feel such types of pain for any unnecessary lengthy period of time. This is your life. You are responsible for you. Your thoughts and therefore your actions are your responsibility. There is not one person upon this earth who shares this responsibility. It is yours alone.

You have a limited time here. Every second that ticks by is a second less than you had before. Everything is temporary and that includes you. Even more reasons to respond to your pain. Your mind spills out upon the world as you pass through it. It spills upon you and the ones you love and even the people you pass in the street. For the remainder of your life you will spill upon everything and every person you have even the smallest of relationships with. It is your responsibility to ensure that you overflow with the good stuff. Then you can share it around. That is called evolving. That is what is meant by vibrating higher. Put in the effort and it will pay off. You can free yourself from the majority of life's anxieties and pain. Every single sage, monk and wise-man knows this to be true. Your time is now!
I saw a quote somewhere and it has stuck with me ever since. This may not be verbatim, but it goes something like this: “...and in her infinite wisdom, she raised her vibration, to alter the future event.”
Notice the unpleasant movie playing in your head. Starve it of attention. Raise your vibration and alter all your future events.

Thank you for reading this post. I am truly grateful. I will be back with another post very soon.

Always your Wing-Man,

Paul Jackson
