The Only One of Her Sort ...

in #flower6 years ago (edited)

Such a stand out ...

c.jpg

because she's the only one of her sort there ... in one of my zen havens, a public botanical garden half an hour drive away from our place.

Year after year, I come to this place in the hope of seeing her in bloom ... (well, not just her of course) and there she would always be, where she was and have always been, with her petals looking up as if happily adoring the clear blue sky.

d.jpg

Year after year, she seems to look the same. Never taller, never bushier but always full of buds and blooms.

The first time I met her, I mistook her petals for leaves. She was standing there in the middle of easter eggs, witches' painted nails and lipstick tips, looking so mesmerizingly beautiful and so different that eventhough a thousand sort of the same kind of flowers were also in bloom like she was, my eyes sort of got glued upon her.

b.jpg

Year after year, many bees and butterflies must have kissed her fully opened flower yet not a sign of any offspring. It's all grass around her, well mowed and not a sight of any other plant sprouting underneath her bottom trunks ...

and this ...

a.jpg

isn't this a bunch of seeds? Makes me wonder what happens when they fall off the ground ... or is it just the tip of her flowers' crown that used to adorn her?

b1.jpg

For so many years already, she's there ... every spring ... in full bloom like the day I took these pictures. No sight of any other plant that resembles her .

Is it because ... she's the only one of her sort?

Pacific Dogwood, my home province's (B.C.) provincial flower.

Bingo!
thanks! I was wondering what's this called!

wait .. your province? we're not talking about a place in Japan or are we?
I thought this was not from here ... thanks for the link!

No, I'm originally from British Columbia, Canada.

Osaka's tree is the Gingko, Blossom: Plum, flower: Primrose. Just had to look that up, I knew the tree though, ginko leaf emblems are everwhere! source

I see .. so this one's Canadian
thanks anyway !

These flowers are so delicately beautiful ! ^_^

Hiya....dear @englishtchrivy.

No worries.....I did not have a source. ^__^

Yes...cards would be lovely...it was @reddragonfly that had an article concerning printing from digital work....very informative.

Congratulations to @mweich.

Thank you for your kind wishes......a lovely day here.

Wishing you a lovely day as well mon ami.

A bientot.....

Really beautifull and eyes catching
Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

The flowers are beautiful, making the heart more shady when seeing flowers expands the day.

Wow amazing flower and photography

Strange looking flower, and I get the leafs alike looking idea. No clue about its name though.

morning good Oaldamst!

exotic, ya think?
pretty toch?

Mornin' misses Ivy!

Exotic for sure and unique.

hahaha

S sends his regards to you all, too!
I wonder why it's alone ...
I want to volunteer and participate in keeping the place and the plants there
and I want to perform grafting on this one
to propagate it (plus I want one in my backyard hahahah)
but I think it won't have that same "special and one of a kind appeal" anymore if there's a lot of it there huh?

Kind regards retour from here to there!

Well, you could ask if you could get some seeds, so you can help the preservation of the plant.

It is my first time to see such a flower but actually I am impressed by your definiton of this flower. It really looks clear that you are a lover of nature ;)

No doubt that she is the one with that much beauty.

coffee?
hmm... smells good

Hi @englishtchrivy, I saw the same plant blooming in autumn therefore looked through search machine, where I have found it blooms twice in april and then in autumn. Also regarding the inner core, it carries berries, little red ones, they come out from the middle and of course they also have inner core and probably seeding this way. Cheers :)

so I've read
I wonder whether they're edible
and how come I never see any young plant sprouting under it
I go there several times a year cause we could picnic, jug and do whatever we want there
as long as no one destroys or harms any plant
but have never seen any sprout
it's bottom is always clean so I wonder whether this needs another plant to cross pollinate
kind'a gives you that familiar feeling of a beautiful woman never bearing a child
nothing against that later though just the first thought that came into mind

That is really weird that you have not seen any sprout but on other side may be you are right and may be another plant is need to pollinate it :)

I saw your post Ivy in the #petals feed earlier today, but I didn't have time to comment. I would never guess the name of this exquisite flower, but I am totaly amazed by her.

I peaked into your comment section to see if someone guessed her name and to my pleasant surprise, I read that this beauty is Canadian. I am absolutely thrilled, because as you may know, I live in Canada. Although, I live in Ontario that is quite far from BC, I am happy nevertheless. I just hope that someday I will have the chance to meet her. In the mean time, I enjoy your stunning photography that captured her so well 🌸💖🌸

yeah she's Canadian indeed :)

Excellent photo shots
