Have found so many edibles on my property since we have been here that I did not even know about. Even the Yaupon, which is North American's only native caffeine and the mimosa tree are great for teas and the mimosa leaves are edible. Most people consider these 2 pest and try to remove them.
Thanks for sharing that i'd not watched any of his video's but that one was good ill have to check out his other stuff. seemed to be a nice mix of learning and comedy which is good. Hope your well!
Hi Dan, some of his videos are quite funny, even the missus giggles at them :)
I'm well thanks, apart from fainting for the first time in my life while I was stood at the loo yesterday evening. One minute I was 'taking care off business' then next I was laid on bathroom floor with missus and daughter stood over me. My daughter was freaking out and screaming bless her. I've banged my shoulder on something on the way down and bruised my tailbone.
Can I ask a veggie question?
Those runner beans I'm growing at mums house, a lot of flowers it are dying and completely dropping off leaving stalk/stumps. I'm not sure if they've been pollinated then dying back of if something is wrong. Mum noticed it first and despite her dementia she did grow beans for many years and so I'm a bit conflicted at the moment. They've had two liquid feeds in the past 2 months.
With out seeing a picture of it, it's hard to say but the weather we are experiencing will be a big factor its so hot/dry a lot of my own plants aren't happy and either not setting fruit or going to seed. Things like pea's and beans don't usually like this sort of heat and will flower but not set pods so i don't think its anything to worry to much but more a downside of this tropical weather we are experiencing. My cucumbers are doing the same its its definitely frustrating
Thanks Dan, I'm happy it's not probably me that's the cause :)
The Potatoes (from last years seed pod harvest), one vine has produced flowers already but they've also died off with no hint of seed pods :(
Hi PV, could you tell me benefits of Ash please?
Apart from I believe being the most common tree in the UK (is that correct?) I don't know much about it.
One of the most common trees in U.K. although it has been affected by Ash Dieback desease recently...
Great as a building wood as it is strong and flexible (good for wood handles on hammers n axes).
The sugary sap can be collected which is known as ‘Manna’.
The king of woods for fires... Check out a poem called 'The FireWood Poem' it's a great one to teach the kids and explains each of the wood/trees in Britain for burning. https://allpoetry.com/The-Firewood-Poem

It certainly is amazing that with just a little bit of knowledge, a whole new 'edible' world is opened up to us :)

There are waaay too many plants n trees for my brain to remember, i limit myself to 5 core edibles and 5 core trees...
Always a Schoolday out there.
Certainly is a school day PV :)
If I was to narrow down to 5 of each; quickly off top of my head I'd go:
Cat-Tails
Stinging Nettles
Dandelion
Primrose
Burdock
Oak (Acorns)
Pine (Vit C needles, Cambium, Pollen)
Birch (sap, leaves)
Hawthorn (berries, leaves)
Hazel (fats, protein)
Though there are many more stored in my cranial inventory ;)
Nice!
I always try to Look out for:

I'm sure there are many other uses too, but for me the primary one is for burning... good burning when green and dead...
Thanks for info PV :)
Can sap extraction be done in the same way as Birch then?
Robster.
Absolutely..... in fact there are many trees you can 'tap' for syrup, just watch out for the toxic ones.
@eggmeister This is good plant
