You need a license to burn your dead wood? Wow. In all Länder ?

That's regulated on Kommunen-level. In the next town, they have a 'burn day' once a week.

edit: The fine is quite low, but someone might call the firefighters and then it gets really expensive... So I'd rather be safe.
It took me 1 email and I got a reply + permit the same day... Now to fully comply with the permit is impossible (2 pages of stuff) but I'll risk that part...

edit edit:
it is illegal to burn dead wood in this Kommune. (full stop)
I got an exemption, because easter traditions.

Uh. What are the alternatives if burning is not allowed? Is there a collection service to bring it to a sawmill or something?

The alternatives are:

  • hire a professional
  • drive the stuff to a local composting facility
  • rent a wood chipper and compost it yourself

Leaving the stuff in piles will be counted as fire hazard and can get you in trouble.

Welcome to Germany! (An overregulated, overtaxed EU shithole, but a paradise for illegal immigrants.)

Yeah, I was thinking the same ... also: a paradise for fax machines ...

Not the first one in this year but still with the snow🙃

I have to get myself some of these metal kebab spikes...

Four is exactly the right number for an Appetizer. With grainy mustard please - no bread / maybe Brezel.

I do the Thüringer version:

In a Brötchen with Bautzner mustard. (but forgot the mustard at home 😒)

Bautzner is Tir1 mustard indeed, especially the light blue version.

You're hardier than I am. No way I'm ready for BBQs yet. Mind you. It's been pretty much raining non stop for weeks so there's that. 😁

Wait... isn't that the default weather in the UK?

You know what? Normally I would have said "no". That's an exaggeration but this year it's been crap. I'm sure records must have been broken.

Yeah, I know it's an exaggeration... Thing is: it rains just as much here in the north of Germany, and we had rain all march february, too.
The trick is to just keep working, which will keep you warm and to bring waterproof boots.

Too wimpy for that. Actually I don't mind the rain. It's the wind I really dislike.

But it makes the hot chocolate at home more enjoyable and brings a healthy color to your face... (my cheeks are burning right now)

What did you grill ?

Salud amigo y es la primera BBQ del año 2024 esperando sean muchas más

Had one last week too, but today the weather would definitely have been better, even though we had 20°+ in the sun.

A maltbeer that I don't know yet.... will keep my eyes open next time i am in the store! :)
Happy "Osterfeuer" and cya around!

no post, no proof.

Kenscht kein flenschburger?

Next time i will take a photo of my Porter in the Sun for you. ;D

Cheers 🍻
🙏

Those should make for a good bonfire.

If you have enough of this kind of brush you can get a wood furnace and fuel it with all of that.
