in #health5 years ago

This time I’m talking about vegetables. As part of your detox approach, you should be focusing on adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to your plan.

These foods hold the best detoxification powers, so it only makes sense to eat them in abundance. In fact, about 75% of your plan should come from fresh fruits and vegetables, with the other 20% coming from lean proteins and 5% coming from essential fatty acids. This is what makes a perfect detox approach.

Many people struggle with getting their vegetables in. Eating enough fruits, generally, aren’t so much of a problem because most people will readily welcome the sweet taste they offer, especially when they are cutting back on other sweet-tasting foods and desserts they enjoy.

But vegetables…those are hard.

Here are a few suggestions on how you can get them in and still reap all the benefits of a detox diet.

1.Blend Them Into A Sauce

One of the easiest ways to get your serving of vegetables in is to actually blend them into a sauce. A tomato-based sauce is perfect for this because it disguises the vegetables exceptionally well. Onions, peppers, mushrooms, and carrots can all be blended right into a tomato-based sauce without any problems.

2.Prepare A Vegetable Soup

Another idea is to prepare a vegetable-based soup. Many people struggle to eat vegetables on their own but as soon as they are part of a soup, it’s like something magical happens and suddenly they’re eating them. Soups taste great and also fill you up, so they are the perfect food to use while detoxing.

Plus, they’ll also help you meet your hydration needs as well. Vegetable soups are quick and easy to make, so prepare a large batch to serve throughout the week.

3.Add Them To Fruit Smoothies

You might also consider adding them to a fruit smoothie. This way, you’ll hardly even notice they’re in there. Spinach and kale are excellent for this, but feel free to experiment with other vegetables as well. The great thing about this too is that it’ll add bulk to your smoothie, without increasing the calorie intake at all.

Just keep in mind that it will change the color of your smoothie, so you need to be prepared for that.

4.Whip Up A Healthy Veggie Dip

Finally, another option you can turn to as a means of getting more vegetables into your diet plan is to whip up a healthy vegetable dip. Put something together that is detox friendly such as mixing some Greek yogurt with cottage cheese and some onion soup mix powder or chopped fresh garlic and/or dill. Experiment and see what you can come up with.

So, don’t let yourself use the excuse that you simply don’t like vegetables as a reason for not getting them in. Take control over your detox and make sure that you are including enough vegetables in your program.
