NCAA Holiday Wrapup

I almost had the title of this post be "weekend wrapup" because that is what it felt like after being off the past two days for the New Years holiday. On the sports front it was a busy two days jam packed with plenty of college basketball and football bowl games.

Besides finishing up the first season of the Witcher and Season 2 of Jack Ryan, there wasn't much time that some form of those two sports were not on my TV.

As you can see, there were some pretty exciting games. My two favorite bowl games of the past two days were definitely The Belk Bowl and The Outback Bowl. The Rose Bowl came in a close third and probably would have made the top two if Wisconsin had won.

The Minnesota game was fantastic and it was awesome to watch the Golden Gophers rise to the occasion and take down Auburn who was projected to win. The last quarter of this game was just amazing with Minnesota getting some clutch first downs and playing power football like we have come to expect in the Big Ten.

The Kentucky/Virginia Tech game was awesome as well. It came right down to the wire and the Wildcats finished in epic fashion. Even though I am not really a Kentucky fan, I know some people on here are and my sister used to live outside Lexington, so I am pretty familiar with the school.

Other notable upsets include Texas taking down #11 Utah. I didn't seen Utah play at all this year, but it isn't crazy to believe that Texas could beat them. It wasn't an upset, but being a Michigan State fan, I was happy to see Alabama lay the smack down on Michigan.

As I mentioned before, the Rose Bowl was a fantastic game. Wisconsin played some fantastic ball and made every adjustment they could to try and top the Ducks. It just wasn't meant to be...

There weren't any significant upsets on the college basketball front. Michigan State starts conference play tonight against Illinois.
