Hive Open Mic ( #openmic ) is a global community celebrating live music on Hive. Each week is a new event, inviting creative expression and genuine connection.
Hive Open Mic
Week 36: Dec 13-19, 2020
Our Hive Open Mic community is a haven for creative expression and genuine connection. Every contributor can be proud of the fact we are building a live music movement by celebrating songs with an international audience. At a time in human history when many are lonesome and fearful, our event stands for global harmony.
“Evergreen”
This week's Hive Open Mic theme is: “Evergreen.” This is a pressure-free invitation, encouraging us to explore new territory together as artists and share a common ground as a community. Musicians always have full freedom to bring whatever music feels inspired in the moment.
How To Participate
- Produce - Introduce your video with the words: “Hive Open Mic Week [1],” presenting yourself and performing a song.
- Present - Post your video on Hive by publishing through YouTube (preferred) or another video host, tagging #openmic.
- Promote - Share your link in the comments section of Sunday's open mic invitation in order to be included in our weekly highlights.
- Prosper - Enjoy harmony with the Hive community by engaging with musicians and music fans through upvotes and uplifting comments.

Acknowledgments
In the Hive Open Mic community, every week is an inspiring musical journey. Here, talented musicians bring their gifts to the virtual stage, reaching around the world. Listeners gain human connection on levels of heart and mind, including people of various cultures and languages. This is the harmonizing power of music.
As a reminder, each week's adventures are amplified in a "Highlights" showcase every Tuesday. Looking back, we can still listen to the music from previous weeks, listed here in order of earliest to latest: Sweeter Than Honey, Golden Sun, Open Path, Song of the Sea, Hum, Rainbow Warrior, Ultimate Freedom, Infinity, Wake Up, Slow Down, Ask, New World, Awe Inspiring, Fire Starter, Key Of C, Dream On, Reach Out, Signs, Four Directions, Smell the Roses, Unity, Death, Spirit, Rebirth, Family, Guardian Angel, Who, I Am, Yum, Truth, As Above So Below, Starlight, Moonrise, Hands On, and Looking Up.
Green, that I want you green!
I've often admired the word "Evergreen." I grew up in the Rocky Mountain region of the U.S., where there are vast forests of pine trees, and I appreciate the way they hold their colors in the wintertime when other plants shed their colors and fade to gray. "Evergreen" seems to be showing up in the mainstream lately, used as a synonym for enduring and long-lasting. Most popularly, I hear it often in the weddings that I film (I'm a wedding videographer) through the song "Thinking Out Loud" by Edward Sheeran.
Llama la atención por lo simpático y original.
I want to ask a question: Does the song have to talk about the word evergreen?
Thanks for your question. Nope, the theme is only an invitation, designed to give artists a spark of inspiration. I do really appreciate when the musicians work within the theme, though, because this helps to unify us all as a cohesive energetic current. We are a community built on various musical movements.
Thank you for answering.

I saw the theme of the post and it occurred to me to bring the song "greensleeves" on recorder and piano, it is an old melody but I think it can be shortened to this theme. :-)
Nice, I love that song. It's one I remember from my youngest days. In fact, I seem to remember a little toy that played that tune. Go for it, yes!

"Rockin' around the Christmas tree
At the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Every couple tries to stop
Rockin' around the Christmas tree
Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
And we'll do some caroling"

Hola amigo! El destino quiso que casi toda la familia llegara tarde al Open Mic. Muchas adversidades, además de un solo computador. Aún así quisimos compartir nuestra música con toda la comunidad. Espero les guste...
