Hmmmm... I have reached that stage of my life where it is highly recommended that I get certain medical tests and examinations performed. Not because there is anything wrong, but just so that any potential problems can be diagnosed and treated earlier rather than later.
And in Australia, we go via the public system which means that for non-emergency procedures, we have a bit of a wait time. If you pay for private cover, than you can go immediately if you want. So, I did my endoscopy intake appointment several months ago... and because my colonoscopy is a non emergency scouting... well, it wasn't until this last month that I was contacted to arrange an actual appointment to have a butt-probe.
And I had planned it for the week after my last work... and as luck would have it, I do have a small little performance of background music in a couple of days... but I will probably do it sitting down, so that I am not in too much discomfort! Hilariously enough, the music partner that is also playing with me seems to be highly correlated with my discomfort... the last time I played with him, I had just had a vasectomy! So, I will always associate playing with him with various bits of me feeling a little bit sore under my underwear!
Anyway, these last two days have been preparation for the big butt day... first day was approved liquids and foods only... which wasn't too bad. And today, only the approved liquids list.... thankfully, that does mean that I can get a bit of glucose via lollies... and some stock broth if I want something saltier. But absolutely nothing solid.
But in about 10 minutes... the fun part starts. My first round of laxatives, one of two in a four hour window.
Now, when I hadn't really planned ahead... and hadn't really thought about the consequences of taking two close rounds of laxatives, I had scheduled myself to teach into the evening... and yesterday, as I read through everything... well, I started to think that that wouldn't be a great idea!
So, a last minute cancellation and rescheduling of lessons to later in the week... and I'm feeling a good deal calmer about the potential for an explosive evacuation of my insides.
I think I'll try and get an early sleep... I've not feeling that energetic after not having properly eaten all day, despite that, I'm surprisingly not feeling that hungry.
I have to get to the clinic pretty early in the morning, around 7... and I should be hopefully clear in about 4 hours... but my wife is working, so I'll have to hang around before getting picked up. I am not allowed to drive, because I'll be sedated or something... and I can't drive anywhere for about 12 hours, so unfortunately, I will miss one of my student's concerts.
I wonder how uncomfortable all of this will be... and whether I'll be still crazily uncomfortable on Thursday nights concert!
Sigh... the joys of getting older!

It's not as big of a deal as you might think. The prep is the worst part honestly. After the fact there really isn't much discomfort. Not from a sitting point of view anyway. It's mostly cramping and bloating in your guts after the fact. I had some pretty bad gas pains until everything got sorted. Like I said though the prep is brutal. I felt like I was camped out in the bathroom, so cancelling that class was a good call!
I'm just fresh out of the place... and it was weird, I was sedated and the next thing I know I was in the recovery room! Yep, that prep was pretty bad... but not quite as bad as I would have thought either... lots of toilet runs, but I wasn't as starving as I thought I would be!
It's good that they had you scheduled so early in the morning. You got to sleep through the worst of it. Could you imagine if they didn't do it until like 4 PM?
That's a better way to be constant with your health but some people avoid the medical part bcus there are scared of what to find or diagnose with
