RE: Individuality

in ThoughtfulDailyPost4 months ago

I try to avoid social media as well. I don't have Instagram, and Tiktok, and I barely use Twitter and Facebook. My main social media is Hive and Reddit, and I use Reddit mainly to get some news. I feel like decreasing my social media exposure helped me do the things I like more. It's good that you and your partner have measures in place to keep yourselves protected.

Only Twitter, Hive, Facebook and Reddit...That's you reducing it? Those four seem like a lot. I just can't be bothered, I'm quote invested in the real world and my real live so don't feel the need to live through other people, I'm not much interested in the news either, it's all an illusion or mostly fabricated anyway.

I guess it does look like a lot when viewed that way. I use FB messenger to talk to friends. I don't view or post in FB at all. Twitter, I just use when sharing Splinterlands posts, which is barely 5 minutes. But yeah, I think I do need to lessen my Hive reading a bit. Saying that news are an illusion and mostly fabricated is pretty interesting though.

"News" is propaganda designed to influence people to think a particular way and much of it is baseless, that's why terms like "fake news" exist. People believe what they are fed and corporations and governments are happy to feed people their thoughts and opinions; social media platforms do it as do the general media. Some like to unplug from it, myself for instance, and some embrace it. I'd rather have my own thoughts and opinions independent from those influences.

I do agree that fake news exist, and that a lot of powerful people twist the news for their benefit. It is just a matter of being knowledgeable enough to find the truth.

Yes, knowledgeable, but billions are not and so they simply follow like the sheep; one of the reasons society is in such strife.
